DOAD is a romantic comedy. When asked on the aim in filming this movie, Andy said, “We wanted to film a movie to remind people that while pursuing own ideals, they should not forget the feelings of people around them. By helping others to open up the inner worlds, they can also become happier.?#060;P> He added when he was stranded in Canada because of 911 event, he discussed with his staff how the background of the story should be. With policeman or doctor as background, they cannot get away from the shadow of Andy Lau. From his Summer concert, they thought of the story of a Latin dance teacher. It resembles a Japanese story on dance & love. Andy agreed. “Overseas are strong in artistic values, HK hasn’t got a movie with such storyline, so we thought of filming.?#060;P> The most unforgettable part is when they invited many overseas pro dancers over, they were not used to shooting scene by scene. So in shooting they had to dance from beginning to end all the time, it was like a show, quite pressurised. Andy filmed the movie with heart, will it become one of your activities this Xmas ?

24/12---Is Xmas again! Feel exceptionally merry. Went back office today, had Xmas party with the staff, pre-celebrated Xmas. In the meeting room, saw table full of delicious food, also Xmas cake! Not only had good food, of course had lucky draw. When lucky draw abt to start, everyone became excited, I too. Hope can get it. But failed, only got consolation prize. But the most happy thing is to be able to be with the staff in the gathering, everyone enjoyed themselves too!

Andy had an autograph session yesterday at Tsim Sha Tsui Harbor City for the promo of DOAD. He was late by abt an hr as he had a xmas party in his office & there was a traffic jam. He signed for 300 pairs of limited edition of Nette & Bobbie. Hundreds over q up, mostly females. It was quite a sight as the q snaked out of the shopping mall. Twins & Tang Xiao Huan love them too, & Andy had reserved a pair for Cally Kuang

At the cost of abt HK1,000 a pair, 500 pairs were snapped up in an hour.

Part of the proceeds from sale of the dolls goes to charity.

This male & female pair of dolls are the ‘new comers?Andy has plans to promote in the coming year.

Teamwork had bought copyright of Nette & Bobbie from . the producer of the dolls, Heroic Rendezvous. The dolls have external look, no character yet, he hopes to inject some Chinese culture into them. They plan to produce books for the dolls first, follow by animated series later.

Andy said he wont be involved in creation or dubbing, its ‘mommy?Vanessa will give directions.

2 nights ago at an other charity sale, Andy brought out a pair of limited edition of Ah Hu dolls, with & without moustache for sale. It raised HK$ 2,600 for UNICEF.

It was reported that Andy’s progress is catching up with Jacky Chan, Andy replied it is the aim of all artistes, he too hopes to achieve such results, no matter how he will try his best to do well. Other than good luck, one needs to work hard as well. He has no comments that in the coming year, he will be countering Eason in awards.

On his wish to film action movies, Jacky Chan commented that Andy can do such movies, he will render wushu directorship then.

HP collected over 10 mil in 4 days, beating all HK movies. DOAD collected 3.7 mil in 3 days. 2002 has 5.3 mil in 9 days. Spitired Away collected 9.5 mil in 9 days of screening.

23/12---Today v relaxed. Like having holiday. Perhaps because DOAD has opened, it is a relief, & xmas is coming, beginning to feel festive mood, hope everyone can have a happy time!

Andy & Anita were at a DOAD promo activity yesterday. They were the judges for a dance activity. Abt a thousand turned up to support.

At an interview after the activity, Andy said he is happy with the box office of DOAD. Since premiered last Friday, it has collected 2.4 mil in 2 days. Together with Andrew the director, they cut cake to celebrate.

Andy said his aim is to hit 20 mil box office.

Currently Andy is filming a Lunar New Year movie directed by Johnnie To, Lucky Stars Conveying Happiness. With other actors including Lous Koo, Cecilia & Gigi.

Andy aims to film a action movie in 2002. He has never tried to film such a movie before. He claimed that his gongfu & body is not bad, after removing clothes he is presentable. He joked that Jet Li seldom remove clothes whereas Jacky remove to much, he would take the middle path. He learns that Jacky will have an action movie next year, one more from him should be accepted.

The reporter suggested he filmed bad guy roles. After some thought, he said the opponent must be someone who override him. Some suggested he can consider Chow Yin Fat. Andy said he is a good choice, though he is now an international star, Andy said it is worth it no matter how much it costs. He never doubted a person’s marker value.

Anita denied Andy was unhappy on seeing Emily. Emily presence was reasonable as she was the executive producer.

While promoting ROOT II, Ekin said he is not aware that Teamwork has 3 movies lining up for him & Andy wishes to promote him. He will fly there if such is true.

22/12---Today is Dong Zhi good day. After working went home for reunion dinner to celebrate. Being able to be with my family to have a good meal, is the greatest enjoyment in life, hope everyone spend a happy Dong Zhi.

2 nights ago Andy was invited to Macau 2nd anniversary Handover to China activity. He performed on the same stage as other first class Latin dancers of the World. Despite he himself being not a professional Latin dancer, in front of these pro rivals, his performance was not affected, he won loud applause from the house.

The performance with Shirley was the closing number & raised the atmosphere of the night. The ‘dried prawn?act won loud applause, some difficult maneuvers were added. Using both hands Andy turned Shirley upside down, & tossed her downwards once, Stanley Ho watched & gasped. Angela gave thumbs up.

But at the final sliding thro, his head knocked Shirley’s left leg, also due to the slippery floor, Andy almost tripped a bit, luckily these had not affected the performance.

Stanley Ho with 30 yrs of dancing experience, clapped earnestly. He praised Andy’s dancing was even better than his, & gave him 99 marks. Angela Leung praised Andy’s performance was really so good & unmatched! But ?th Lady?was the one who admired in details the most, she saw Andy’s ‘fanning?the leg a bit as he was abt to trip, this rapid movement of a split second was even noted by her, but she still gave Andy 90 high marks.

Stanley Ho also praised Andy handsome guy with a good voice. He said man who can dance can win hearts of girls. [..heehee..take note, male fans of Andy…]

Shirley said Andy’s performance was v good, the only thing maybe because they were too tired after dancing so much, it is not easy to be perfect with their cooperation, esp Andy who is a perfectionist.

With the support of so many people, Andy of course v happy, he said Stanley was too humble to say Andy was better than him. Andy in turn praised that Stanley & Angela dance was excellent. “They danced v intimate, have warm eye contact, 2 bodies merged as one, worth 100 marks! Stanley gave me 99 is correct, because I cannot become one body with Shirley, haha.?

Andy sang 3 songs, Xin Suan Love Song, Chinese & Summer Fiesta.

DOAD after screening received many good reviews. The pair of cute dolls in Sandra’s house arouse the interest of many. The dolls are of limited edition of 1,000 pairs. On Xmas eve, Andy will autograph the first 300 who ordered the dolls.

Andy said even Cally Kwan liked them so much, she had ordered a pair. But it is her bday that day, Andy will give the pair to her as present.

Lately a Weekly reported that Andy had bought a 2nd hand Japanese 7-seater to Zhu Liqian & his parents ?a year ago for use when they go out & said this car was never exposed, v secretive. Andy smiled, “This car is white, I bought it for a year already, I always use it, what so secretive? Like that also can write, haha! V funny. My parents also use this car, but because they are always overseas, so my younger always drive to send them . Later I thought of buying a copper-colored 7 seater, for the co to ferry the artistes, hope everyone don’t start imaging things. ?

21/12---With an excited happy mood, attended 2nd anniversary celebration dinner of Macau handover to China. The organizer invited 5 pairs of Latin dancers to perform. Shirley & I was one of the pairs. Being able to perform at such a grand occasion, feel v honoured. Actually quite nervous, because the others from China, S Africa, & Italy representatives, are all of first class pro Latin dancers. I am only of amateur standard, to perform the same stage as them feel stressful. So before that I took time off to practise. The part I perform is the one I perform at my concert, had good collaboration with Shirley, the outcome was not bad. But able to witness such top class Latin dance is an eye opener for me. Shirley performed with my Latin teacher, I learned from aside!

DOAD or Ai Jin Ru Meng was premiered 2 nights ago at Tsim Sha Tsui The premiere & its activity were held outside Hai Yin Building in the open air. Andy, Sandra, Anita, Edison & other actors were all present. Many popular figures were seen, including Leslie Cheung, Peter Lam, Yang Shou Chen & wife, Xiang Wah Chiang & wife, Stanley Ho’s daughter & 4th mistress Angela Liang. etc.

Andy said other than the actors the rest were invited by Media Asia.

Emily Chen Yi Wei, said to be a super fan of Andy, also rumoured to be Andy’s gf, claimed a rich guy had used blue stone to propose to her before, after a period of quietness, appeared at the premiere too. It was said that whenever there is Andy, Emily will be there. When Andy was told, he appeared unhappy & wanted to leave, said, “If u ask these questions, I wont answer.?The reporter asked later if Zhu Liqian will come to support, he reaction was v different, he smiled but did not answer.

Andy was naughty, he teased Sandra figure & tried to invite 4th mistress to dance but was rejected.

Andy danced Latin dance with Shirley, the crowd cheered & screamed. It was a bustling sight. Sandra wore a glamorous Latin dance costume with back exposed. She said the dress is v expensive, she had put safety pins in front. After filming she lost 6 kgs, so the dress was loose. Anita was a bit late due to a meeting.

In the movie as a teacher, Andy had to imitate Leslie in a scene, he cross dressed as lady. He sang the song, the audience clapped.

The director Andrew Liu said the movie is the product of all the actors.

Why Andy impersonate Leslie? Andy said his voice was like Leslie when he first joined the circle. He had complete imitation. Will gege feel embarrassed? Andy said no, Leslie appeared happy watching the movie, he clapped & laughed. . Did he shave the legs to act his scene? Andy said no. Leslie praised Andy acted like real & comical. Does he mind? “Of course not. Anita had asked me, Andy had called me, they respected me a lot.? He joked he will collect copyright fee.

Andy has confidence the movie will hit 2 mil box office.

The audience’s laughed throughout the whole show. The scene when Andy impersonated Leslie won loudest applause.

After the show, the actors went to Sandra CR prg for the interview.

Sandra had exposed herself in acting, Anita accidentally pulled down her top. The vital spot was masked with squares. Sandra said Andy will have to feed her a life time if the news spread. Andy told her not to have high hope.

Anita refused to comment on Andy’s news on his marriage.

20/12---DOAD finally shown! Tonite premiere, together with the actors in the movie again, to enjoy the product of our hard work A snowing scene was arranged outside the cinema, under deep Xmas festive atmosphere, many friends too attended the premiere, make me feel warm. Later I went with Jiatong, Zhicong, etc to the stn, to be interviewed by Sandra, in the one hr prg, the laughter were nonstop, everyone mood was v high!

Headline: MediaCorp & HK join forces

HK star Andy Lau is seen with American Chinese actor Daniel Wu in HK on Tuesday, when MediaCorp & HK’s eSun Holdings announced a HK $200 million (S$46 mil) venture to co-produce Chinese films.

For 5 yrs, the firms will invest in 5 to 10 films annually. The films will be produced thro?Media Asia, which is owned by entertainment company eSun & MediaCorp Studios.

Media Asia has a slate of new films whh might come under the joint venture. It is making 4 new films with Lau’s Teamwork Motion Pictures, with Lau starring in 2 of them.

It is also making new movies with HK’s Filmko Pictures whose film-makers include Ann Hui & Stanley Kwan.

Anita & Sandra both learn dancing fr Andy in DOAD. They try their best to show off their svelte figures. Anita wears a spaghetti strap low v-necked silk gown to seduce him. So seductive as she stoops over. But Sandra is not a loser too. She wears a fiery red spaghetti strap high-cut gown, exposing front & back, really irresistible. Who has better figure, only Andy knows!

The story is abt Sandra who likes Andy & willingly works as a part-time cleaner for him. But her figure is only average, so she gets tips from Anita.

To film a grand ballroom scene, the army museum was lent from the govt. It gives a sense of nostalgia.

Andy was at Metro Radio yesterday for an interview by Nancy Seet. At the end of the interview, the station announced that Andy is the King of 2001 Entertainment News in the male category. He is the artiste with the highest media exposure & leads by a wide margin. For the past one year, despite Nic Tse having the most love rumours & Eason Chan with the highest negative news, Andy was able to win with only positive news.

Andy said maybe because he does more work, though the media likes news, there are people who likes positive news. He will maintain this image, & bcome a model for others. Any secret tips for newcomers? Andy feels effort comes from both sides, work should involves more areas. On personal level, Andy advised, “Careful!?

Andy advised newcomers should not used negative news to get headlines. Artistes are public figures & need to be positive. But sometimes can be misreported, that is another matter. There should be cooperation among those in the same line, esp now at yr end & many music awards are coming up. Negative news may cover the hard work for the whole year.

In shooting of DOAD, there was a scene that Sandra needed to have close body dance with Andy for as long as 3 hrs. She said the feelingf was like a bed scene. On hearing this, Andy laughed, “Is it? So difficult to film & still can think of that! But the scene was really locking at the tips of fingers to tips of toes.?Did he feel the same as Sandra? Andy joked if Sandra wants a headline, should use some positive news, they had been tricked by her.

Sandra said her back was full of Andy's finger marks.

She has feeling of being in love a few times in filming movies, once was with with Stephen Chow before & this time with Andy. But with Andy, Andy is a serious person that she also has respect. She always takes Andy as her sweetheart. How would she rate the movie? 9.5 marks out of 10!

19/12---Made a late nite radio interview tonite, talk on DOAD contents. Actually filing the movie, every actor in the movie, really made me feel like a family, thinking back, though had tough moments, the feeling is warm. So excited! Tomorrow is the premiere, I am looking forward to this movie. I can meet the actors again. Hope can feel like a family again.

A pair of big-headed dolls, bobbie & nette, product of heroic rendezvous will appear in Andy’s DOAD. This pair of cute dolls makes Andy’s drool, he intends to support the product to become stars of tomorrow.

The designer of heroic rendezvous dolls is Vanessa Chan. She designed a pair of dolls 12 ??tall, bobbie & nette, for Andy’s new movie. The pair of dolls will appear in the movie & MTV, & later in other movies. Andy supports it as it is a HK product & because of their healthy image just like Andy himself.

The dolls are for auction next week, but many Andy’s fans have pre-ordered them. The pair is of limited edition. The special movie version has 500 pairs, selling at $580 each. The movie version limited at 1,500 pairs, at $480 each.

Recalling filming of DOAD, Sandra confessed it was v tough for her, as she has no basic dancing experience. A scene of 3 min she had to practise for 10 hrs. She was v stressed. She said she loves Andy’s working attitude & personality. Though not filming, Andy will stay back to direct her, a scene because of NG was filmed for 20 hrs, Andy was there with her.

Eason Chan at interview by RTHK, self disclosed that he threw his gown in anger because he lost Media Award to Andy last year, but the camera missed it. He said he was one of the top 3 with Nic & Andy. It was a big action of his, but not filmed by reporters, the award should be his.

Actually Eason was leading at first after C Radio & Metro music awards, but was caught up by Nic & Andy later. Finally at RTHK, Andy won with 14 awards, Nic had 12, Eason 11.

18/12---Went to press con tonight, to announce Teamwork will co-join with a few companies to film movies. Actually this is a v meaningful event, can unit HK movie circle, to film some high quality movies, to attract more Hongkongers to watch HK movies, so the industry is prosperous again. Hope more companies can get involved, everyone can watch better shows. 2 more days to DOAD screening, really quite anxious!Hope everyone can see our sincerity!

Universal Entertainment Group & Fong De Li Pte Ltd (?) will merge with 3 other companies: Teamwork, Singapore mediacorps Raintree movie co & Peng Da (?) next year, as one company to invest in movies. It was announced yesterday by Lin Jian Yue of Universal & supported by Andy. A sum of HK 2 billion will be used to produce 5 Mandarin movies a year., with aim to increase to 10 movies in 2003.

Andy hopes to nurture new comers & revitalize the market. The joint venture will reduce risk of flop. DOAD is a joint production of Universal & Teamwork.

A few movies will be filmed next yr by Teamwork, including movies with Edison, & car racer Li Yin Jian as leads. At the activity, Andy praised that ROOT II which will be shown at the same time as his DOAD is a good movie.

He praised newcomers such as Edison Chen, Nic Tse & Cherie Yin. Ekin Lau Qin Wan & Louis Koo are a draw for box office.

17/12---Early this am need to go to work, to radio stn to record a radio drama, ?9th Floor Block C? I like to record for radio drama, esp this time with a gp of drama lovers. I as their junior, being able to dub with seniors, feel esp happy. If there is a chance next time, hope can have one more time.

Andy handed his homework in full 100 marks again last night on his first night concert in Genting. It was a show with surprises again & again, giving M’sian audience a full audio-visual treat . No one will not give him a thumb up in praise.

The concert was sponsored by Peter Stuyvesant & produced by Milky Entertainment. It had glamorous costumes, good songs & good dances.

The audience too worth a word of praie, from the 1st song Deep Blue to the last Love U 10,000 Yrs, their hot response had never stopped, at the cue from Andy, they cheered, sang along never failed to disappoint. Especially Andy’s international fan club, all in orange uniform, armed with many gadgets, were the most responsible audience.

Andy super timing sliding thro?Shirley’s legs won thunderous applause.

The rain scene was v beautiful & invited shrieks & screams, esp when he stroke the water backwards.

While singing Shaolin Soccer, his singlet broke apart at the back, exposing his torso, he joked that it was because he has put on weight.

Andy has set a precendent recod of breaking the limits of Arean Of Stars limitations by breaking the rules in bringing in elevated stage, re-set the lighs, artificial rain, fireworks etc.

Andy proved his substance as singer with his performance .
