Together with Lam Ka Tong, new singers Tung Mian Li, Zheng Rong, Guo Li Xing , Ellis Teng, Hong & others, Andy was @ Wancai Na Hua Bowling yesterday for the Poh Leung Charity Bowling activity. Other than as a special guest to start the ball rolling, he taught the new singers how to bowl. Though he stressed that he is not qualified to teach, he professionally taught the young singers & some children how to bowl. He joined the contest too. Whenever he had a full strike, Poh leung director donated $20,000 to help in the fun raising. Perhaps there were too many onlookers, he did not play up to standard, he raised only $90,000. Poh Leung generously topped it up to$200,000.

Tung Mian Li is Andy's super fan, under his supervision she had 2 full strikes. She said she was nervous even when she saw Andy from far, & she was blank in her head. When told to have a photo with him, she was v shy. She flushed & had tears in her eyes.

Andy pointed out actually quite a nos of artistes like to bowl, but they are embarrassed to have the ball landing in the gutter. Thus he has the intention of opening a bowling arena with membership fee. Some alleys will be curtained up so that they can practice with ease. He encouraged them to sing & film more movies to join, within 3 mths they can get back the money, he jested he will collect $500,000 for a life long membership.

Known to be good in bowling, those who were present including Ellis & Hong wanted to be his students. Andy declined, "Better do not get me to teach, I am afraid I am not up to standard, I can scold people, it is better you just play with me!" He teased that Ellis does not even have strength to hold the ball. Ellis & Hong said they will challenge him 10 yrs later, he quipped he may not be able to lift the ball then.

Yesterday afternoon Andy was in RTHK for the voice recording of a new year prg called 'You Are Super—Gong Xi Fa Cai Good Luck in Liu Year'. 200 over audience including his fans were invited. There were singing & games. Guests included Hong, Ellis & Lam Ka Tong. It was filled with festivity mood when Andy sang the new song with God of Fortune. At closing they sang Silly Child together.

Andy asked the audience questions which were given by the station & prices were given out to winner. When he asked what type of chicken the man likes to eat but loathed by the woman, one 6 yr-old girl put up the hand & answered, "Curry chicken". The audience laughed. Controlling his laughing , Andy followed, "Guo Jing Jing likes to eat curry chicken first." The host added no wonder she had to cover herself with a scarf. Guo Jing Jing is the China diver gold medallist who was seen dating the tycoon son & was spotted with a love bite on her neck. The correct answer is actually 'yellow-feet chicken'.[I think it means 'blundering']

When Andy teased the little girl if she promises to be his gf, she answered 'yes' but later was afraid & hid in her mother arms.

Another question is what flour was used to make chicken tim sum. When Andy saw the ans was 'Malay Chick', he is doubtful of the ans, he thick it shd be 'Malay cake'. He quipped any mistake is by the station & has nothing to do with him.

He disclosed that in 2006 he will film 6 movies to promote his god son Hong & God daughter Ellis. The news will be announced later @ the International FF. He wont be acting but does not dismiss playing a cameo role. He quipped his fee is too high, it may affect production cost but he will be the executive producer.

In March he will start shooting a movie . He will play a role stretching from age 13 to 83. Felix Wong will act as his father. A few actress when approached to act as his mother rejected the role. Said, "After so much difficulties then one of them agree, I wont not tell you who rejected the role." Andy is interested in shooting this movie as the theme is new, the only worry is in the make up. He is worried abt skin allergy.

It was reported that the national postal service dept in the mainland is demanding AWWT to clarify & delete a segment allegedly misled the audience. The remittance fee was exaggerated 5 X in the movie. They may file a lawsuit. Andy said he is not aware of it, for the truth they have to ask the director.

2005 International Miss Chinatown beauty pageant was held last night @ TVB broadcasting studio. 22 contestants went through 3 rounds of qibao, swimwear, Q & A. The top 5 were No2 Miss Melb, No3 from SF, No 10 from NY, No 15 from Vancouver, No 17 from HK. Finally from Vancouver, 22 yr-old Miss Li Ah Nan was crowned the champion. The first runner-up was Chen Fa La from NY & 2nd runner up from Melb. On being praised by Andy that she has star appeal, Miss NY said it is her honor. Miss HK is not in the top 3, but was crowned Miss Personality. She quipped the title is meaningful.

Andy who is one of the judges had said he supported HK declined to comment. He said he is not disappointed with the result. The top 3 are deserving winners. the top 5 had v close marks.

Andy has been invited to perform in The Spring Festival Show in Beijing on the Lunar New Year eve. At the C R interview yesterday, he said he will have an early reunion dinner with his family 2 days early on the 28th of lunar calendar, on the 29th he will set off to China & back home on the first day of the CNY.

At the show, he has the honor to sing the new year song solo, & has the chance to perform with the latest robot. Will he challenge the robot to dance? He quipped he is a singer with substance, & will leave the dance performance to them. Said he, "The organizer had seen my concert, they feel that China can have a lot of crossover, so they arrange for a 1 :1 ratio robot to be my dancer. I am not sure what I will dance, but I heard the robot can play golf."

He had heard abt this tyoe of robot from the net, & is looking forward to seeing it himself, but he would not buy one home. He is amazed how a small chip can store so much information, he thinks something like the movie Artifical Intelligence can happen in future. At times he is afraid of high tech stuff. He feels too much imagination leads to too many creation, that can be a problem. ICQ has made the interpersonal relationship lacking in sincerity & responsibility. He had heard abt 4 digital companies created a robot to answer questions, when asked if there really is God in the world, the robot answered, "I am!" It is scary for him. Talking on working with robot, Andy is excited.

The Taiwanese radio stations including Hit FM, from New year eve to the 4th day will have Andy to be the God of Fortune to give out cash NT$10,000 daily. The stations feel that his new year song has festive feel, his luck has been v good since last year.

Andy will be at home during the new year holidays. His best entertainment is not mahjong but playing fire crackers.

The 5th Chinese Media Movie Grand Award will take place on March 20 in Guangzhou. In the nominations announced 2 days ago, Kekexili, AWWT, Mongkok Night, Judo Championship, Love & War, 203040 etc movies will contest hotly for the Best Film award. Andy Lau with AWWT , Tony Leung with 2046 & Eason Chan with Love & War are in the run for the Best Actor award.

Best Actress award is even more hotly contested among Sylvia Chang with 203040, Cecilia with Mongkok Night, Rene Liu with AWWT, Faye Wong with 2046 & Zhang Ziyi with 2046.

AWWT tops with 6 nominations, followed by 203040 & Kekexili with 5 each. Other than the Best Film, Best Actor & Actress, AWWT is nominated for Best Supporting Male & Female Actress, & Best Newcomer. Andy enters the contest in a mainland movie instead of HK's.

Andy was in Metro Radio for interview to promote his new year song Gong Xi Fa Cai yesterday. He wrote a couplet on the spot to wish the station a prosperous New Year.

On his nomination at Golden Bauhinia, he does not view Tony as his archrival, all the other contestants are his opponents too. All the nominated movies had gone through stringent selections. He is happy & satisfied if he can be nominated together with Tony every year. He said he had seen all the movies, they are all different. It is tough this year, but he has confidence. AWWT is not qualified for contest @ The HKFA, & is not nominated by the HK Movie Critics, he thus pins his hope on Bauhinia.

HOFD has one Oscar nomination, he quipped this is first time ever, he hopes it hits with only one strike.

Nicholas Tse praised his new year song is even better than one sung by many singers. Andy quipped nos of people does not matter, as long as the song brings out the festive joy. He has chosen to sing in Mandarin as he hopes other than HK all other places can hear it too.

Lo Ka Yin was diagnosed to have cancer colon stage last month. Andy said some of the friends who had dinner with him said he looks ok, he has thought of visiting him, but not sure how to say, he has sent regards through friends.

In this 'Double Dragon encounter', they jammed songs, singing & playing guitar together. Andy said he admired Sam a lot, his lyrics in one song is v meaningful. After singing, Sam presented Andy with a guitar that is his precious collection & had accompanied him in many concerts . he taught Andy how to play the song Wonderer's Life with the guitar. China Olympic gold medallist Tian Liang has been eliminated from national team after he had signed up with Emperor Entertainment Gp. Overnight he was like from heaven to hell. Many voiced unfairness for Tian, Andy said Tian's crime does not warrant a death sentence.

Andy does not know Tian, but was shocked to hear the news. When he heard what Tian said, he feels that Tian has some regret with his action, & believes he will make some reflections on himself. Within these 2 yrs he shd be able to recover. It is quite a long way to 08 Olympics, there is no need to pass the death sentence to him. Tian was choosing his future, it is right he plans for the future. He had thought of signing up Fu Ming Xia , & waited for her to join the circle after she resigned from diving, she had at that time thought of resigning.

R: You had said that it is not easy for others to accept the fact that you can act. Consciously, have you ever been bothered that your external appearance has affected your acting? Western hunks such as Johnny Depp & Jude Law had gone through periods of transformation, they had tried all means to make themselves ugly in the movie, with the aim of making the audience notice their acting, would you try to do this too?

A: I have never thought that my look has affected my acting career. I do not have to specially make myself ugly. Because people have labeled me handsome, make me an idol, this phrase 'one with substance' thus appears to be far away from me. Everyone usually uses the word handsome to describe me. The feeling of being handsome has become sort of a weapon. They do not thus notice that such a handsome person, actually has put in a lot of effort in acting all the time.

( From one who is typified with a name, an encouraging name is what he sees as the meaning on his win on the Best Actor award. Appear to be not bothered, but it contains loads of gratitude.)

R: Everyone is used to a never-aging Andy Lau. They hope to see you falling in love continuously in the movie, on your forever White Horse Prince status, are u tired of it? Would you dismiss it if you have to act as someone's father in a movie?

A: Everyone likes to listen to kind words, how would I ever be tired of it? Haha, if I am fortunate enough to let everybody feels that I am a forever White Horse Prince, what a great fortune it will be! Perhaps through many life times of doing good deeds! I would not dismiss any role that I feel is good. For as long as the script is good, the role is good, not to say acting as someone's father, even as someone's mother, I will also accept ! Haha!

R: Do you mind letting your audience see you getting old ? Do u feel you will be in the circle a life time?

A: Being old is the natural process of life everyone has to go through, whether we like it or not, you & I will get old too. I have never worried that the audience see the passing of my age. Age is not my secret. In every stage of our lives, every stage has its own attraction. Do u feel Robert De Niro has no more attraction? He has been in the circle his whole lifetime, everyone still likes him.
To me career is my whole life.

R: Many people think the older you are, the more charismatic you become. What is your secret recipe to not aging?

A: I do not have a secret recipe. but I discover that everyone must have a dream, have wok, in this way your daily life is fulfilling, then you will have boundless spirit. There are many age very fast when they retired.

A: One Thought Heaven, One Thought Hell. Your life is for u to create. Reincarnation is just a word used & passed down by the ancient people. The seeds to the real life is sowed by you yourself, if you hope to grow flower, you will get flower, if you choose to grow fruit, you will get fruit. ROK was just using teaching of Buddhism as a package, so as to give a deeper insight to life.

R: As a staunch Buddhist, in the later part of the day, will u film more movies of such genre?

A: I am really not fit to be called a stanch Buddhist. Seriously speaking I am not a good disciple, I do not give incense in the morning & evening, I seldom chant sutra. I just believe in the philosophy of Buddhism, it hits sympathetic chords to the truth. If ever there is a v good script on Christianity, I can also accept to film, my religious belief has no direct relation to my acting.

R: Eric Tsang claims that Jiang Hu can represent HK movie in 2004, what is your view on this ?

A: Representing HK movie in 2004, perhaps you can say so! After all. this is also one of the HK 2004 Top 10 box office movies. If u were to ask me, I would say Jiang Hu represents the admiration & longing of movie buffs on HK movie in the 80s. The audience remembers fondly the glorious day of HK movies at that time. The young director Wang Jin Fu grew up under the influence of this period.

R: Talk something on your collaboration with Jacky Cheung in Jiang Hu. Hardly have chance to work together, (the first time being MongKok Ka Man 15 yrs ago), on Jacky, what have u found?

A: With him we are already old pals & old partners. Working with him is the same as walking with an old classmate who had grown up together with u. Each understands one another v well. There is understanding. The new discovery is of course he has become a father & has matured.

R: To you, which type of movie has meaning?

A: To me, a movie cannot be lacking in imparting a message & must have touch of humanity. A good movie is not just nice to watch, after watching must let the audience has space to ponder, being able to impart a message, make one thinks & reflects.

A: There is no way one can manipulate & open up roles to play, one can only wait for opportunities. It is not the first time I played the role both good & evil. I had acted some before. Long ago in the triad movies I was both good & evil.

R:In HOFD, once again you played the role of a mole, are u worried of being type-cast?

A: Should not be, only 2 movies, how to be type-cast? Also both roles are v different.

R: You are v good in discovering talents in the movie industry, one of whom is Fruit Chan in Made In HK, Jiang Hu director is another. All this let us see another side of Andy Lau, one who is not counting on money to nurture HK movie talents, what dream do u have on the HK movie industry?

A: I am not so great, not counting on money in nurturing talents in HK movie industry. I started from v low, I had gone through days waiting for opportunity, previously quite many people had given me chance before, if I have a chance today, I am most willing to help the next generation, so that they can bring out their talent fully.

R: Andrew Lau has expressed his lack of interest in Hollywood, he feels it is better for him to stay in HK shooting movies. Have u ever thought of going to Hollywood?

A: I leave all to destiny. I will not intentionally go to Hollywood to develop my career, but I am not saying I will never go, leave it to destiny.

The 77th Academy Awards announced list of nominations yesterday. Golden Globe big winner The Aviator received 11 nominations while Million Dollar Baby & Finding Neverland have 7 each. HOFD received a nomination in Best Cinematography, contesting with The Aviator, The passion, The Phantom of the Opera & A V Long Engagement.

Though with only 1 nomination, Zhang Yimou & movie investor boss are both v happy, they are not disappointed in not nominated at the Foreign Language Film. They said the intention in shooting the movie was not to get awards.

The 9th Golden Satellite Awards announced the winners yesterday. The result is about the same as the mainstream movie awards such as Golden Globe, the difference being Best Film & Best Actor both go to Hotel Rawanda & its male lead Don Cheadle. The Best Director is from The Passion of The Christ, Morgan Freeman again won Best Actress in Million Dollar BB. Worth noting is HOFD won 2 awards, Best Cinematography & best Special Visual Effects.

All this while, I have been reading Andy Lau from the side. For him I have already set my own like & dislike. I always feel that he is one who is good at psychological tactic. When one is fully aware of one's own stance, one can fully grasp the media in one's hands. Of course he is fully aware the games can be played the other way round.

I had heard about his friendliness to the media. So when the appointed tele interview was changed to an email correspondence, I began to have a lot of speculations, perhaps due to the recent gossip on the ex gf made him have the reservation, maybe after getting too many awards, he is beginning to change?

But, when the email came from afar right on the dot, all the suspicions became redundant. What is written in black & white all of a sudden proved itself to me. In the past, I always think email is an artiste way of dodging the interview. But for him, in between lines, he has instilled this sence of sincerity, & his words are touching as I read.

Really I have been too suspicious.

R: After waiting for 3 yrs, finally you got the 41st GH Best Actor award, what is your next target on working hard ?

A: To get the next Golden Horse award, haha. I am just joking. Please do not take it seriously. But it can be used as a comparision, I do not set any target, I will only continue to work hard, not because of one award will I stop, if one does not progress one will regress.

10th Golden Bauhinia Awards by the HK Movie Critics Society will take place on March 6. List of nominations was out yesterday. In the 8 categories, Kung Fu Hustle directed & acted by Stephen Chow receives 6 nods including Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Supporting Actor, & Best Cinematography. 2046 & Mongkok Night have 5 each.

The other nominees for the Best Actor include Tony Leung (2046), Andy (AWWT), Daniel Ng(Mongkok Night) , Jacky Chan (New Police Story). AWWT is also nominated in Best Film, Best Director & Best Actress categories.

2005 International Miss Chinatown Beauty Pageant hosted by TVB will take place this Saturday @ Tseung Kwun O broadcasting studio. 22 contestants met the judges for the first time yesterday @ Lunghm Hotel. Panel of judges include Andy, Yue Tong, Pan Huizhu, Chen Yongqing & Justice of Peace Hu Jingchang. The emcees are Zheng Danjui , Ou Chin Tang & Ni Cheng. Eason Chan & Chen Luanssun will joint hand in the dance performance.

The contestants came decked out in dresses of their choice. No3 Miss San Francisco & No 14 Miss Brisbane stole the limelight with low cut dress showing off their assets, in the hope of leaving an impression on the judges. A pity Andy commented, "The body has to be proportionate, big ones may not get high marks."

Andy rarely has the chance to be a beauty pageant judge, he said, "Many years ago I was the judge once, at that time I represented the views of a younger person, now I look from a mature angle. Other than beauty, she needs to give the feel of warmth. Among the beauties, I feel Miss India is the most beautiful, her eye brows are thick & her feature is deep."

Though Andy has no one in mind at the moment, when asked if he will be more lenient to Miss HK, he quipped, "Of course, as I support HK more, but I wont give more marks to the long-haired, the older will get more marks."

No 17 Miss HK Xu Zhi Xuan on hearing Andy favoritism, said, "I believe he will be fair, many thanks to his support."

Yesterday Andy was in Mongkok for an autograph signing session of his Vision Tour 2004 Concert DVD. It was held @ the busy Xi Yang Cai St outside an audio visual shop from 330pm. Though 800 coupons were given out , a thousand over turned up. Together with the onlookers there were 2000 over people. 30 security guards & 30 policemen were stationed to maintain order.

More than half of the street was barricaded. Though there were fans who climbed & stood at high places to have a good look, children on the piggy back, it was orderly. The shops on both sides did not complain. Andy stood on the table to take a gp photo. He wished the fans a Happy New Year & urged them to be orderly. They waved their dvds high. It was a bustling sight. Mongkok is a busy place, Andy said he had held autograph at the same place before, his record is good & he was not black-listed by the police.

Vita said he had come to HK 5 mths, under the influence of his gf, both of them like Andy v much. Andy said he is touched by Vita's sincerity, this boost his confidence to enter international market. At first he thought Vita was attracted because the poster of him wearing the yellow emperor gown looked a bit like a black man.

The fans gave him birds nest, green tea, red packets etc.

The initial time for the release of the album coincided with tsunami disaster, in order to help with relief efforts, it was delayed to 3 weeks later. First batch of 300,000 albums were sold out on the first day of release. Those for sale yesterday were the new lots. Andy quipped it was good returns for good deeds.

Will he introduce another version now that 2 of his songs were not included in this album? Said, "No. This is unfair to those who buy the first version. I shd be able to include them in the next product for all!"

The manager of the organizing committee Mr Chen disclosed that Miss HK show next Saturday will be hosted by Zheng Danjui, Ou Chin Tang & Ni Chen, the main performers will be Eason Chan & dancer Yao Yongchih. Panel of judges included Yue Tong, Andy Lau, & others. He said that Andy was v happy to be called to be one of the judges, he agreed readily. The costumes include swim suit, qibao, mini skirts of the 60s & so on. It will be like a large scale fashion show.

In 2004 China has Liu Xiang the hurdle Olympic Gold medallist, in HK 2004 has Andy Lau who swept both movie & music awards. It is not sure if Liu Xiang can become a great star in HK, but the popularity of Andy Lau in mainland is unsurpassed, so year of 2004 is definitely year of Andy Lau.

Andy can be the big brother of the movie circle is a harmony of time, place & person. HK entertainment sees withering of stars, the passing of Leslie, in 2046 Tony looked aged, only Andy is still able to maintain his march, not hampered by age.

Though over 40, he is still the pillar of HK movie industry. It shows if the front wave is strong, there is no way for the waves from behind to push the front one away. Andy continues to challenge himself, continues with self-enrichment. His ability to withstand hardship & fighting spirit is not present in the new comers. Have you not seen Daniel Chan was just a flash in the pan, Eason Chan because of family matter is lacking in drive, Edison Chan is not worth mentioning. As such the audience in HK must support Andy even more to continue with his next challenge.

Recalling the 5 Tigers, the terrific resilience of Andy is even more pronounced, all the others have either become aged & weak, have become pot bellied. All have entered andropause. Though selling spectacles can accent to a millionaire, no matter what colored glasses u are wearing, Andy is still the top fit male in HK. Though Uncle Hua in politics has retired, movie circle Uncle Hua is still shinning brilliantly , how much Heaven has taken care of Andy.

If Tom Cruise is the soul of American movie industry, when can Andy be like the suave Tom in Mission Impossible II displayed the cliff hanging effect with one hand upside down, to show off his fit torso ? This is the ultimate revenge to the so called 'plum talented woman' in Taiwan! Andy, people in HK support you!

Though Andy did not win The Best Pop Singer @ the 27th RTHK music awards, he was gentlemanly & congratulated Haken at the backstage. Haken said he had never thought of beating Andy, this is his best present for 2005, he will listen to Andy to explore the market in China. Andy was winner of Most P M S (Gold) while Haken was the bronze winner. He quipped there is still a big gap between him & Andy.

Haken hurried home after the ceremony, when asked if he was to propose to his gf, he told the reporters to ask Andy whom he had leaked the secret of the marriage.

Andy was shocked. Haken whispered to Andy's ears. Then Andy said, "Oh now I know! When he is married I will tell everybody! I can be either the emcee or the best man, but to prove I am still single, it is better I be the best man!"

Is Andy disappointed in not getting Media Award? He laughed, "It is alright I do not get it this year! It gives me space to improve! ( Had u expected it?) The thing I had expected was to get zero award from CR, I believe with my sincerity, one day it will present one to me!"

HK movie market remained at its downturn in 2004, only 50 over movies were produced. ATV entertainment news entrusted the HK University Public Opinion research unit, headed by Dr Chong to made a survey at the end of 04 , The HK Entertainment Circle Opinion poll. Thousand over people were contacted via phone. The survey shows that the majority of Hongkongers lack awareness & support of the HK movie & music. In the poll, 70 to 80 % said they cannot remember their most loved song or movie.

People from all walks of life & ages were inclued in the sample. Andy Lau & Tony Leung were picked by them in most categories.

The result shows that Jacky Cheung was no 1 in the most admired Top 10 Pop Singer list, followed by Haken & Andy Lau, Kelly, Joey, Twins at No 10 while Mirium no9.

Chow Yun Fat was the most admired by the Honglongers at the Top 10 Actors followed by Andy Lau & Tony Leung. Andy is No1 at the most loved Actor across categories.

Hingkongers Most Loved Movie was After Tomorrow, followed by Harry Potter, New Police Story was at No5.

27th RTHK music awards ended last night @ the HK Coliseum. There were 12 Singers named as Best Pop Singers on the new year eve. Haken beat Andy to clinch Top Best Pop Male Singer award. When the result was announced he hugged Andy excitedly. The host disclosed that their marks were v close, Haken won by a narrow margin.

Joey Yung won 5 awards, with a total of 20, she was named the Media Awards winner. Andy had 17, while Haken had 10 1/2. It was obvious that Andy lost is because he had zero from CR Hit Music Awards.

3 male & 3 female singers were named in Top Album Sale winners. Haken, Jay & Andy in order of merit.

Other than Album Sale, Andy won a Gold Song award & was named Most Popular Male Singer. In receiving the MPM S award, at the acceptance, he expressed,"I am so proud!". He was award presenter with Cecilia who did not know how to read the name & had to ask him.

Andy showcased a mini concert with 7 songs while Lisa Wang who was Golden Needle winner sang several classics.

Andy who had netted 2 big awards at TVB JSG smashed the dream of Haken to be winner of MPMS 3 yr in sucession. Andy after the win declared he will treat Haken to bowling for a year after having said he wanted to chop the trophy to half to share it with Haken. Last Thursday, Andy as promised invited Haken & his gf bowling. They played 56 sets in 3 hrs as celebration.

At 8 pm, Andy together with his asst, bowling instructor Xu Zhi How who was ex HK player, arrived @ Ocean bowling. Haken & gf arrived 5 min later. Haken ordered noodle & milk tea to eat before the game. He is still less skilful than Andy, who gave him pointers now & then.

When he paired up with Haken to compete with the instructor, Andy was serious, after every ball he checked the marks, when Haken had a full strike he would clapped & cheered. After 56 sets, they won by a narrow margin. If one set cost $36, the total fee would be $2016.

Andy equipped himself with own bowling gear: black glove $100, purple glove: $50 ( like to wear only one side), shoes: made to measure 7 to 8 yrs ago, priceless. Ball (black) $1680, reserved ball (red) : 1200.
