The recent anti-graft probe by ICAC on music awards is still underway. Metro Radio held its Mandarin Songs Music Awards last night @ Coliseum, it is the first music awards to be held since ICAC probe & is thus an attention grabbing event. Emperor group & Universal Music which are being investigated won 8 & 1 award respectively out of 52 awards. Sony Co won 13 awards.

Andy Lau emerged as the final winner, nabbing a total of 5 awards. David Tao & Jay Chou had 4 awards each. Kelly , Mirium, Joey & Gigi each won 2 awards .

Attendees last night included Andy, Eason Chan, David Tao, Jay, Vanness, Joiln Choi, Joey, etc. Andy, Jay & Vanness had the most supporters.

Andy who had shaved bald for movie appeared in his new look. V short hair has already grown. The skin-head matched the black suit looked so cool, he received many cat-calls & screams from fans.

The 5 awards won by him included 2 Metro Mandarin Song –Mushy Love Song & Yue Lao, King of Matro Mandarin Song, Top Air-play Metro Mandarin Song ( Yue Lao) & Metro Mandarin HK Singer.

TITLE: LOUIS CHA ONLY LIKES ANDY & IDA ACTING FOR CONDOR HEROES

Famous sword-fighting novelist Louis Cha has criticized Nicholas Tse is unfit to act as Yang Guo in his famous novel The legend of Condor Heroes, as he is a flirt. In a recent interview, he also attacked Chang Yimou’s movie Hero. He hates it the most as Chang made the tyrant Qin Emperor as a hero , opposite to history, this is cheating the audience. It is a ridiculous movie.

He also dislikes Tsui Hark saying Tsui does not know wuxia, he filmed Shu Shan Legend in a mess, he also altered Louis Cha Xiao Ou Jiang Hu. From now Louis Cha will not sell him his novel for filming movies. But he likes Li An Crouching T HD, claiming he is one who knows movies.

His comment on the actors today: he does not like most of them . He has difficulty to continue watching the TV serials given to him after a few episodes. Hitherto, he only likes the version of Legend of Condor Heroes acted by Andy & Ida. This version of Yang Guo & Little Dragon Lady suits his taste of storyline. The other one that he finds satisfaction is Qing Long Emperor acted by Adam Chen.

Ellis Teng said her god father had ticket for her to watch Liverpool recent match in HK but she couldn't go as she was working. She wishes Andy can give her a ticket to watch Real Madrid this time. Though Anita Mui is also looking for ticket, & Andy will give Anita first instead of her.

TITLE: TASTE GOOD

The relationship between Andy & CR is always so-so. For years he has not attended its awards ceremony . The relationship however seems to improve lately. Monday 28/7, he went to the stn with an empty stomach for the promotional recording of a radio drama. He had to prepare his own toast, he tried his hand. See the way he ate, was he really hungry, or his toast was really delicious ? Licking even the fingers, is it so delicious ?

Andy has scars all over his arm, all because of filming Big Guy Monk. There is a reason why he is so successful

Metro Radio Mandarin Songs Awards 2003 will be on as scheduled this Sunday. The station feels that there is no graft involved & decided not to cancel it.

Net voting has hitherto attracted 20,000 votes. The leading male singer is Andy Lau. Kelly leads in female singer category.

In a previous radio interview Andy revealed that Ellis Teng who acted in Give Them A Chance was actually his god-daughter. It is no wonder that within 2 years Ellis not only was cast as lead , she appeared in Andy & Aaron’s MVs, movies, & commercials.

How did the relationship begin ? It dates back to 14 yrs ago.

In ’89, when Andy was filming a movie ‘Dragon & Tiger Meet’ in Holland, he stayed in a hotel owned by Ellis’s father. The hotel was also used for shooting. One day, her father took her , her bro & a cousin to the shooting location. The 3 adorable kids were adopted by 3 actors. Andy hoisted up 9-yr-old Ellis & said,"This chubby girl is so cute. She will be my god-daughter!" The gp had a dinner that night to celebrate promotion to fatherhood.

As Andy acted only a cameo role, most of his 3 weeks in Holland were spent in the hotel, & got on v well with Teng's family. Andy established the bond with Ellis by playing with her & teaching her Chinese .

After coming back to HK, they kept in touch. During festive seasons Ellis would call Andy, & when she was back in HK, she would visit him. She remembered once she followed him up & down the bus the whole day. Only later she knew he was v busy with a lot of activities.

Ellis age 11. In ’91 when Andy went to Holland for concert, she told Andy she was thinking of him all the time, this sure made her god father happy!

Age9 . Called Andy daddy in ’89, the relationship lasted 14 yrs.

Age 10. in ‘90s. Andy took her to Shi O beach.

Age 15. Ellis took her sis (center) to see Andy’s concert in ’95

When teamwork re launched in ’00, Ellis was recruited. But she called Andy boss to conceal her identity. She expressed her worried that if she does not do well she might disappoint Andy. Andy told her to work hard & always asks her abt life in HK.

Heroic Duo starring Ekin & LL has not only applied to take part in Asia Pacific Film Fest, it has also applied to enter Golden Horse awards. The movie opens in Taiwan early Sept or Aug end. It will counter Infernal A at Golden Horse. Looks like this year LL, Ekin, Andy & Tony are fighting to be nominated & to win the Best Actor award.

Eric Tseng criticized TVB which is intending to change singers' contract so that they cannot appear in ATV. He pointed out this is unhealthy, without competition there is no improvement.

Real Madrid is coming to HK soon. Eric is invited to the dinner on Aug 7. He has 3 chances to meet David Beckham, one in Beijing on the 2nd, one at the match & one the dinner. On Anita Mui who wishes to see Beckham but couldn't get any ticket, he answered, "Don't have to go! I can take Beckham to her house at night, tell her to get ready! But if I can take either Beckham or Andy, guess which one she will pick ?"

Before Real Madrid lands in HK, Real Madrid rage is already on, not only tic to the match on 8 Aug selling like hot cakes , the wax figure of D Beckham was transferred to Causeway Bay shopping center.

Yesterday Zhong Guang emporium launched a promo activity, with purchase of $100, one can have pic taken with Beckham’s figure. Andy Lau wax figure is also on display

Now fans need not go Hill Top to see Andy’s wax figure, starting from today they just need to visit this emporium & get close to him, how do they feel ?

Annual Book Fair has made many rushed to books. Actually good books are always there. For the artistes, words they face are mostly from scripts & lyrics. To have boos as companion is easy said than done. Luckily there are those who take the challenge & seek the spring in desert.

Andy Lau's compass in life. --- Conversation with God.

Andy who is more serious than anyone else in reading books, recently was deeply engrossed with Neale Donald Walsch creation---Conversation with God.

"This is not a story book, it is a conversation the author made with 'God'. I could only use the word 'shocking' to describe the feeling this book gives me. This is temporarily the most special book I have read. It can be read over again & again in a life time.

"As a Buddhist myself, when I first look at the book, I thought, 'is it a book like that of a Bible ?' But after turning, I realize it is not a book on religion, it is 'a compass for human life'.

"The book tells u how u can solve the problems in life, how one handle every stage of relationship, what is 'love', what is the true meaning of life.... There is no absolute right or wrong, most important is to know 'who I am'

The author is not a religion guru, it is by one who had married 5 X, had 9 children, when he is down in life, the insight he had, he is the famous mender of heart in the States.

Andy had filmed a commercial in Shenzhen China recently before his hair was shaved. Shooting was meant for 2 & a half day but was over in 1 & 1/2 day. A fee of close to 10 mil was said to be his reward in filming of this 'Jie Ke' DVD player. The ad will be out in China soon.

He was suspended 8 ft high & told to kick continuously in a circle. In another scene, he had to walk rapidly on the wall suspended on wire. Though he was suspended for 2 hrs, he did not complain. When he was grounded he exclaimed, "V good ! Finally landed! I almost forget how the ground feel like."

In addition , he was dressed in some diff movie roles, such as in AFB, in Shanghai Grand, Full Throttle , Everlasting Love, IF etc. He handled the make-up himself & was v fast with it, even though there were make-up artistes & hairdressers. He quipped he learned make up from his TVB days, actually the senior artistes are v good with make up themselves.

Yesterday (28/7) Andy went to CR for recording of a radio drama 'Heavenly Music' [literal translation] together with Athena Chu, Ronald Cheng & Leo Ko. There was a meeting-the-press session on the drama.

Andy said Peter Lam had called to inform him that Infernal A is one of the movies to represent HK in the Oscars nominations in the Foreign Movie category. FTK was once selected to represent HK but did not enter final nominations. He has more confidence this time.

Chang Yimou has hand-picked him to act in his movie after watching his performance in IA. Andy said he has always wanted to work with Chang, now it is abt 99% sure of signing the contract, but just in case, he teased, if it does not come true, everyone should not laugh ! He is presently practicing hard on sword fighting, hope to be more perfect by year end.

He went to watch Liverpool match with HK team 2 days ago. When he was at the gate, a guard asked him ,'Are U alan Tam?' he joked he didn't admit he was, maybe Alan Tam could enter more easily.

A big poster board was put up on the stage at JM’s outdoor promo yesterday. It was v obvious that his biceps were purposely enlarged suddenly, out of proportion to his thin body. The photo was doctored. Is he trying to counter Andy in Big Guy Monk ? When asked, he insisted that people have not noticed his arm as he always wears sleeved shirt.

The airport was v busy yesterday with the arrival of Liverpool football team & Andy who had returned from TW. He walked out at abt 12 noon , wearing a gray hat this time. Many of his fans came to welcome him back. After wearing a green hat in TW & was teased, his thoughtful fans presented him with hats but black in color this time. He went up the car happily. Andy stayed one extra day in TW to record a prg for good old pal Chang Xiao Yan. Though the fee was not disclosed, it was said to be 6-digit.

TITLE: ANDY HAPPY TO SEE IMPROVEMENT OF RESULTS IN FANS

30 over fans who were present @ the airport presented him with hats of all kinds. Some students show him their exam results. He was happy to see the results.

Andy shaved once 19 yrs ago to film Duke of Mountain Deer. He cried after shaving. Now for movie he had shaved again. Though it was not such a thing as being called at 6 am to go to ICAC for enquiry, he was so worried the bald head would affect hislook. Last Wed when ICAC was sweeping entertainment in a graft probe, he had his hair dropped at the auspicious hour.

Synopsis of running on Karma

In the movie, Andy acted as one who was able to know past & present life. After his childhood friend was killed, he unrobed as a monk. From a monk he became as striptease dancer. While running naked on the street, he was captured by poliwoman Cecilia. To save his life, both of them went to China to investigate a case. Cecilia was killed in the process.... Later, from her spast life, he began to grasp meaning of life & became a monk again.

The fake muscles alone weighed 40 lb, there was another impervious layer whereby helium could be blown in to make the musckes bouncy. This were glued to his body making only his hands , soles & head available for breathing.

The first trial almost suffocated him. Luckily in the actions scene in China, stunt man stood in for him. Even his asst Ah Wei was used.

After job done, the scalp looked too green, the make-up artiste add some colors to match the other part of skin.

With 40 lb of costum, wherever he went air-con & big fan were a must.

The big guy always damage the costume used for movie, he mended it himself, without troubling the crew tailor.

Before day break, he had to wake up to have make up done. The joints were sealed with glue. From 6am the costume was on till only after 8 or 9 when he was back at hotel.

Though had stand-ins , certain shots where face was seen, he had to do it himself.

On arriving at the cave, Andy was invited to write some words, he wrote;'Be open in heart' [ be happy]

Filming at Datong night street, Andy had many bad experiences before was worried for as long as shooting was on.

He took along a rice cooker to cook veg noodle & stew soup.

He stayed back the same hotel as before when he came to datong for concert. A new menu called Hua Zai Cake was included, it is a dish of steam egg mixed with salted egg, minced meat & vermicelli.

TITLE: ANDY'S NECK 'PIERCED' BY PRETTY LASS

Andy pre-recorded a TV e program 'Happy Sunday' yesterday. For days he had kept his head under wrap, finally yesterday he exposed part of it. He wore a blue cap, his hair has grown out. Host Chang Xiao Yan teased if pimples would develop under such heat. He quipped that his body constitution is good, & pimples wont grow easily.

Andy is still looking as fit as ever. When asked on his secret, he said he jogs & swims. He does not use exercise equipments. He does not do facial, except in the recent filming where special make-up was used. He depends mainly on exercise.

Andy played magic show with Melody. She was nervous. At one section she had to stare into Andy¡¦s eyes. During the show her legs were trembling, Andy warned her not to let him down. Andy changed 3 pigeons out form nowhere.

The exciting part was when she used a knife to pierce his neck. During practice she had injured the worker. Under many pairs of fierce eyes from Andy's fans, it was successfully done.

Another segment had someone dressed up as fatso, dance king, & Ah Hu. They sang Silly Child. It was v funny. Pictures of Andy from 1981 onwards were also shown.

Xiao Yan commented Andy is terrific, he has not changed for 20 years. Andy said other than some lines on the face, his persistence, honesty, seriousness is forever the same.

TITLE: ANDY DISCLOSED HE WAS ONCE SNATCHED OF HIS LOVE BY HIS FRIEND

In the prg, Andy disclosed that in his training year, he had a gf named Angie. After 5 yrs they went to Japan together. But his girlfriend was snatched from him by his friend later. After losing love & friendship, he devoted himself to work.

TITLE: ENDURE HIGH HEAT FROM 15 GAMES OF BOWLING

Andy appeared openly in public after completing filming of commercial. He said some hair has grown on his head, but still he insisted on keeping it a secret. When he was teased on the green color hat, he laughed & quipped, "Doesn't matter, I have no wife !"

2 nights ago after dinner he went bowling @ Pan Qiao Ta Taipei Bowling arcade with the workers. Many fans followed him.

After changing to bowling shoes & gloves on, he began playing. He was full of energy, playing from 10+ pm to 2:30 am, a total of 15 games. Whenever he had a full score, he gave a five to the workers. His score was between 150 to 200 over, highest at 220 points. 30 over fans clapped cheering him.

As he got hotter, he just pulled on the hat to cool the head, seemingly uncomfortable but just wont expose the head.

As there isn't much work this time, he appeared relaxed. It was a great difference from the time when he filmed Running on Karma. He has many thoughts & feeling on this movie & had suffered enough. He has to wear the heavy make-up from beginning to end. When make-up was done, he couldn't visit the loo. After make-up, he would not like to talk or move, as when the make-up come off , they had to re-paste the glue. After 10 over hrs covered with heavy muscles, his hands were even swollen.

Compared to LOAD , this is many times more difficult. LOAD is a melodrama, this is an action movie. Once after make-up, he had to walk uphill shooting. The 15 min journey took him 1 1/2 hr. If it had rained, he would be crushed by the heavy muscles.

The new look gave him so much torture, said, "Many would not be able to understand my feelings. During filming, I scolded people more often, if the crew didn't get things ready, I would scold them all, including Johnnie To."

What was his reward in shaving? " A 10 rmb red packet, abt the price 10 over years ago." He said people like to think he is an idol & wont sacrifice the look for movie, he hopes to break this concept.

TITLE: ANDY CONFIRMS FILMING OF CHANG YIMOU'S NEW MOVIE

In the press interview, Andy said his hair was saved off within 3 minutes. Accordingly to customs, Johnnie who was having his meal came over to tape him 3 X on the shoulder & gave him a red packet so that his hair can grow again.

He confirms he will film a period movie directed by Chang Yomou, acting a swordsman. Chang has commend on his acting in IA. Filming will start end of the year.

Andy has not received any award from Golden Horse, he is still waiting, He wonders why movie industry in TW is shrinking , even Golden Horse becomes contest of HK movies.

Filming of commercial is coming to the last stage, after that is taking of hard copies, tmorrow will start work on promo of new album

HK star Andy Lau with a scarf on his bald head raises fashion heat on scarf again.

A PRO from Yi Die emporium indicated that scarf was in fashion sometime ago, it was not only for the bald-headed, scarf of any kind or even a tee shirt can be used , as modelled by Andy.

Scarf was introduced to Taiwan by a local artiste form the American black community. But the weather is too hot in TW, youngsters use them only at night to go pubbing. If not for Andy who came to film a commercial & came looking secretive with a scarf, it is not easy to bring this fashion craze again. The t shirt used by Andy looks not cheap.

The American black community uses scarf of varying materials, even a t shirt can be used. The scarf was used to shield off sun but it becomes a fashion later on.

There are diff ways of tying the scarf, tie at the side, front or back. Youngsters after a game of basketball like to pull their t shirts over their head, easily turning it to a scarf.

The PR went further to demonstrate few methods of tying T shirt scarf. The easiest way is to pull the collar over to make it like hair gear, with the back of t naturally dangling behind. The 2 sleeves are then tied with diff knots. More professional way is to cut the body of the shirt, used it over the head, catching the diff patterns of the shirt. Extra material at the sides can be used to tie knots, looking like Andy. How to tie looking nice ? The thing to note is the top portion has to be smooth & the knots are not clumsy.

TITLE: SLEEPLESS BEFORE LOSS OF HAIR. BALDED-HEADED ANDY IS EQUALLY HANDSOME !

Andy was in Beijing filming Running On Karma recently. As there was a section whereby he had to appear bald-headed, he was shaved bald. For one who is always anxious with hair, hours before the lockes came off, he was v anxious, though he had prepared mentally. He was v worried he would look like a different person, or the result was no good. Usually he could sleep in the journey to filming location, but that day he was sleepless, he couldn't even eat breakfast & lunch that day.

Actually he had shaved several times during his days in TVB, but for 10 over yrs he had not tried. Last Wed on July 16, @ auspicious time of 2pm , he was shaved. Looking v tense & brows locked , he initiated shaving himself, starting from his left ear. He let the other took over when he couldn't see. He said the feeling was hard to describe. He had his eyes closed after that. The task was finally done in 45 mins, he was transformed to a bald-headed monk. The workers all praised his look is exceptionally nice, much to his relief!

He was not used to the bald pate. He kept touching it whenever he was free. As his scalp color is too light, it didn't match the color of the fake muscles, so during filming dye had to be sprayed on his scalp.

He thought after shaving, he wont need to wash the hair anymore. But now after taking off make-up, he had to wash even more. The first time after shaving , his first reaction was to cry, now he was only anxious.

He said the best with no hair is feeling cool, it is easy during bathing, the water just slip off from the head !

TITLE: ANDY AS EXECUTIVE PRODUCER OF ANTI-SARS SONG

Andrew Lau had finished filming his 1:99 anti-sars short movie. It will be out on Aug 4. The backdrop of the movie is based on past 100 years of HK, showcasing Hongkongers were able to surmount all hardship even in the worst adverse situation. Andy, Jacky Cheung, Carina Lau, Eric Tse , Anthony Wong etc were invited to give words of encouragement. The theme song was a classic of the late Roman Tam. Ekin Cheng was invited to sing the song. Andy volunteered himself as the executive producer.

Three of them were at the studio recording earlier on. Under the supervision of exec producer Andy, Ekin completed recording smoothly. Andy & Andrew even hummed along. Andy said he likes this song a lot as it is v inspiring, he pointed out to Ekin he shd smile singing the phrase 'little pain is just inspiration' . After recording, Andrew rushed back to the studio to record his own singing for own remembrance, haha.

TITLE: WITHOUT HAIR ANDY IS AS HANDSOME

Andy arrived in TW yesterday, many fans started a frenzy chase. But he went straight to the ad shooting location. His fans had prepared his fave food such as rice ball & duck's tongue for him. Filming will continue for 3 days, after that he will meet his fans exclusively at Taipei International Convention Center. Many nice food were spread out for him at the location. He disclosed that the scarf was tailored by him, from a tee-shirt.

TITLE: COMPLAINT OF NOISE NOT VALID

On April 1 @ abt 6 am early morning, Running on Karma had an outdoor shooting at Central . Abt 30 crew members including Andy & Cecilia were present. The residents lodged a complaint that the noise generated was too much. At the court hearing yesterday, the court ruled that the level of noise generated was within limit. The police had left the scene before the crew left , there is no direct proof of noise.

In the anti-graft probe by ICAC last Wednesday, the target was actually on those involved in buying of awards in JSG. But during house & office search of concerned persons, documents were exposed involving other cases.

In one of the latest exposures of masterminding market share price, lawyer Tung Shu Lun, son of the director of Apple Daily Tung Qiao, was also found to be involved.

Tung Shu Lun was the legal adviser of the listed co CCT since '99. In July last year, he was the spokesman at the press con to announce CCT had filed lawsuit against Andy, & issued summons to Andy. ICAC will take quite a while to analyze the large amt of documents seized.

TITLE: TOP SECRECY IN ANDY¡¦S BALD LOOK

Andy went to Taiwan yesterday. 20 over fans sent him off at abt 8 am, showering him with gifts & red packets to wish him well. Wearing all white, he looked v cheerful.

To prevent his bald look from being exposed, he had double protection of a hat & scarf. He took off the hat only when he was infra-reded for temp taking. He jested he is not used to being bald, & still feels like stroking his hair always.

Ha has not been to TW for 1/2a year. Many people are v eager to see his bale pate, a lot of media persons stalked out at the airport for him. But to respect the contract of the movie & advertisement , he cannot expose the look at this moment.

The last time he shaved bald was 20 over yrs ago when he filmed Duke of Mountain Deer. In the Mandarin song Wooden Fish & Gold Fish he wore a head cover to mimic a monk.

Andy has come to TW to film an advertisement for a 15 year-old Japanese whisky, touted to be the No.1 wine. The co is looking for one with tested good charity image, charismatically mature man as spokesman, Andy becomes their top choice. The fee is said to be astronomical .

Does he drink ? Andy said he drinks with limitation. He had a bad experience before at a post-awards celebration when he was drunk. He said now he just enjoys the taste of wine .

He arrived at abt 1 pm in TW & was whisked off to filming of the commercial . The workers prepared for him food he likes best such as bean curd, baked biscuits, rice balls & get ready for him spicy-hot steamboat for dinner.

The commercial will finish filming tomorrow after that he will have a pre-recorded interview & meet his fans. He will be back in HK on Friday.

TITLE: LIP SEALED ON MAK¡¦S AFFAIR

ICAC in the investigation of corruption in the entertainment industry, discovered another case, it is now 'case within case' ! Juno's Mak father Clement Mak other than involved in JSG music awards bribery, was also accused of 'mastering shares market price'. Andy when asked abt this, answered, "Not convenient to answer you."

2 nights ago, James Wong had his last of 2-night concert. Golden Horse with 40 yr history is facing being scrapped this year due to financial difficulties. Luckily this is now solved, but the nos of nominations is v little due to poor economy. Closing date for nomination submission ends in Sept, now not even 10 movies have submitted. It is indeed a headache. HK movies I A series, can submit two movies. IA 2 had completed shooting in June & is due for screening in October.

In order not to countering each other, maybe only IA by Andy & Tony to enter the contest.
