Andy's China Concert Tour started officially last night. The first station is Wuhan. He had arrived on the 17th.

The concert started on time at 8:15 pm. The station was packed with 20,000 audience. When the long-awaited Andy appeared, the fans turned into a frenzy, they cheered loudly for him, it was a v warm scene. The organiser knowing attraction of the superstar, had engaged 5,000 security guards to keep order for the concert to run smoothly. So even though the fans were v enthusiastic, the situation was not disorderly.

But in the mid way of concert, there was some rain. Luckily only a drizzle, it had not damped the heat of fans, the atmosphere was even higher. To thank the fans, Andy put in whole-heartedly to the performance. He sang many classics & had hot dances to give all a good audio-visual enjoyment.

Headline: Golden tickets auction sale all donated to poor students, Andy sent warmth to them

Yesterday morning, under multiple camera flash lights, Andy presented school bags & school fees to 6 Wuhan students from the poor. He encouraged these students to study hard & use knowledge to have a good future.

Andy said he was like that, started drop by drop, step by step, to reach this stage of his life.

The students were selected from families with financial difficulties. Parents of the first student are both cancer patients, despite being financially poor, he is till v hardworking & is a model student for many years.

Proceeds from the auction sale of the Golden concert ticket were all given to the students. A representative received donations for the poor students of his school, a 3 yr benefit of school fees & expenses.

9 students presented Andy with small home-made woolen jumper & golden voice cup & some gifts to thank him for his kindness .

A female university fan bought the last Golden ticket with Nos. 0666 at 3,600 RMB. She had her dream fulfilled, she shook hand with Andy, had his autograph, presented him with flowers & took photo with him. She said she is now unable to buy new clothes for the next one year but it is worth it.

Headline: Andy biggest wish---have good health & able to do what he likes to do

Yesterday at 11:30am, Andy looking a bit tired from his journey, under the eyes of many, met the press. The time then was one hr overdue.

Reporter ( R ): We have been looking forward to your coming to Wuhan for a long time. What good surprise u would bring to fans here?

Andy (A ) : I will bring to all a v beautiful concert performance. I am not sure if u consider this as a surprise, hope everyone can be more into it & have fun with me.

R: Now your career is at tip top, u are a superstar, u are also a boss, what is your greatest pressure? What is your greatest happiness?

A: my greatest pressure is how to present good shows for all to see, also hope through my work everyone can feel my sincerity. The more difficult part for me is how to make the things put up by me every time is fresh. Now it is getting more & more difficult to develop in the entertainment circle. But I still feel there is space. My happiness is to see so many fans liking me.

R: What is your yardstick of a good man? Which is more important, career or family?

A: I feel a good man should be one who is responsible. If he is strong with his responsibility, I think he is a good man. I feel family is more important. I hope I have a very happy & complete family. Because if family is unhappy or has no warmth, it is useless even if the career is good.

R : In the past 20 yrs, u are v successful in singing, movie, & TV development. But u are already 40, a man’s energy is limited, what will u be stressing on from now?

A: I have not decided yet. Actually the more important thing is whether I can meet good opportunities. If I can meet a good script in the movies, I will act. Art is not to be created slowly, but if given the time, it is not impossible, but a longer time does not guarantee a good product. So I am v particular with opportunity. I have been singing acting for 20 yrs, now I hope to be able to create a good space, to allow the new singers, actors opportunities to develop. Now we have our own company, has a v good production team, to make good script & songs. The aim is to help nurturing the newcomers.

R: What is your aim from now?

A: Frankly speaking, my aim is to act till I am 60, sing till 60. See if everyone likes to see a 40, 50, 60 yr old Andy Lau. Of course age is a pressure to an artiste. (Do U have confidence yourself?) I don’t know. Confidence is given to me by u. If u all can give me confidence, I will continue to do.

R: We know u clinched Best Actor award with the movie ROOT. AFB is ur 100th movie, please give some comments to these movies? Also on your latest movies LOAD & FTK.

A: I had not expected to get recognisation with this movie. I wish to thank Johnnie To. It is he who gave me the confidence to act well. So movies LOAD, FTK are all Johnnie’s products. I feel that a person no matter how good, he still needs a lot of people to help him. Johnnie & many other directors have given me different space to develop my acting skill. The thing I need to do is to be more release, & not burden by my name. Many successful persons will go thro’ a stage when they think they are the best, actually there are people who are better than you. Should leave all these aside & learn. AFB is my 100th movie. The role of Ah Hu is v close to the life style & feelings of an artiste. Boxing & acting are dependent on age. So if u wish to have a feel of an artiste, watch AFB will know.

R: Heard that FTK will represent HK in Oscar awards, can u verify. Any confidence in getting the award?

A: First have to thank the judges in HK for choosing the movie for Oscars, now we are waiting for news from Oscars, to see if the movie is nominated. Now it is only the first step. If can be nominated, then I think confidence will be higher in future. I think FTK can move them. But because Grammy awards was stopped, not sure if there is Oscars.

R: Heard Kelly Chen is your guest?

A: We have finally decided not to have any guest.

Now, be it in singing or acting, Andy has come to a mature summit state. His career is all smooth. Evryone may think., Andy greatest wish is obviously for his carreer to saor to even higher. Wgheh asked on this, Andy said seriousl;y, “The biggest wish is to continue to have good health, like now, do the things I like to do.”

19/10---WAh~~~~~~~so excited ya! Wuhan fans are really v warm, tonite I really feel the 20,000 people's shaking.
Tonite we started on time, at the beginning the fans were already cheering non stop. Of course I was even more inti it! Though slight drizzle in the mid-way, but they were still v hot. Really v thankful to my fans in Wuhan. If there is a chance, I wil come here to have concert again. Hope they can still still support me with equal warmth!
Tonite concert is v successful, hope every station is equa;;y smooth!

18/10---Finally come to Wuhan! Really start on China Concert Tour. First have a press con, to meet the media, & say hello to friends in Wuhan.
Then, go to concert place, have a rehearsal to prepare for tomorrow’s concert. Hope all goes on well!

Headline: After long holidays Andy beginning to be busy again

After 2 weeks of bday long holidays, Andy is now busy again. In these last 2 months of 2001, he has 6 concerts in Mainland China, he will go to Germany for Film Fest. If time allows, he will come to TW to attend Golden Horse Awards. He has many good films this year, he wont want to miss the big event.

After 15 concerts in HK, he advances to China market. Today he is in Wuhan, then he will go to Dalian, Taiyuan, Hefei, Jinzhou, & Shanghai. Andy's popularity in China is irrepressible. Wherever u are in Shanghai Puxi busy streets, u can see billboards of the brand of clothes endorsed by him. It has become a distinguishable symbol in Puxi. Also especially when u step into any restaurant, his songs are the most frequently played. Just Shanghai alone is enough to show his popularity in China.

Andy will be touring half of Asia, the only place missed is TW. The main reason being there is no organiser able to pay his for the high fee.

Andy arrived in Wuhan Tianhe airport at 8:17pm on 17th Oct.

Almost everyone was caught unprepared & before gaining reflex, he in a casual attire was out from the VIP room of the airport. He took a quick glance at the crowd & got up the car. The whole process took only 2 seconds.

Zhutian radio stn set out with 5 Audis, one red-flag car & at least 6 bodyguards to receive this superstar. These cars are not only fast in speed, they followed zigzagging behind, it was not easy to chase him.

As soon as he stepped out of the car in front of the hotel, a male fan rushed forward to ask for autograph. Under such tight security, this fan still could get his dream fulfilled. After he was being 'thrown' out, he yelled, 'Andy lau, I love u!'

The stage for the concert looks grand & has been completely set up.

Filming of The Monkey King has started, but the female lead Ruby Lin is missing. She is still in Beijing shooting another movie. Her combination with Dicky in previous serials was a big success. But no contract was signed before, her absence caused some disturbance in the initial plan, a new female lead has to be put in.

...The cast for TV serial, The Monkey King (Journey To The West), invested by NMG starring Dicky Cheung as lead had set off to Dung Huang for shooting yesterday. It was said that Dicky had asked Andy to play a cameo role as Buddha but Andy had turned him down. Andy explained that many actor/actresses are already involved this serial, his presence may spoil the whole feel or image of the cast. He feels this serial is to showcase acting of the new generation. If he steps in, his status is v awkward. He stressed that he is the investor, & hopes not to invite gossips, further more the production has already made all the necessary arrangements, there is no need for him to worry.

19 Oct concert in Wuhan will be a duplica of HK concert. A total of 20 boxes, a stage worth 40 mil has been set up completely. His 36 songs have been decided.

The stage set up will be like that in HK, 3m tall dinosaur will appear so is the emperor gown.

The concert will last 2 1/2 hr. 32 songs are must-sing, 4 are reserved. 36 songs may be re-agganged in sequence. Songs include Blue Heart, Smile, I Dont Love U Enough, Moon Represents M H , Man Cry Is No Crime, Out of whh 12 songs were voted by fans, Icy rain get the highest votes.

Always thought male artiste will admire sexy, Coco Li style hot babe. But actually the many famous HK male artiste have a different idol in their hearts.

Andy Lau: Maybe because I have a more conservative outlook! The tall girl maybe v beautiful, suited for catwalk as model. But I still feel, for me, must find a gf who is shorter than me. Easily to talk to! Dont know why my gf since young always shorter than me, this is my direct feel.

16/10---I am back! After such a long holidays, start work today.
First go to practise dancing, in preparation for the upcoming concert tour in China. As the stage is quite different from that in HK, so there will be some changes in the dance. Also since after holidays, need to go in to concert mood again.
Afternoon attended RTHK press meet, night time have concert practise, this time is---singing practise.
V soon can meet fans in the Mainland!

Andy has just finished his long vocation. Though he didnt go outstation, he was equally busy, as he used the time to perfect his dancing, he went bowling, & played golf. (Sin Pao)

Yesterday together with Hacken Li they attended the 2nd RTHK station 20th anniversary press meet.

He disclosed that he will film a movie on dance comedy soon, temporarily titled 'Love U Like Dream'. The female lead is Sandra Ng.

Because of 911 event, Andy said he does not wish to film unhappy movies. The initial plan of filming PC0927 is now postponed. Other than Sandra, he wishes to invite one who cant dance, just like the fat guy in Shaolin Soccer who couldnt kick the ball.

Andy will set off for his one-month concert in China tomorrow, the first station is Wuhan & last in Shanghai.

His concert in Shanghai is one of the prg for the 3rd International Art Festival in Shanghai China.

In view of the economic downturn, Sandra Ng & Chang Tamin not only slashed the ticket price to their comedy show during X’mas, they have even promised to match-make some singles men & ladies.

Andy volunteered to be the performing guest.

Accordingly the tic price is slashed to $280 for the most expensive. During festive season it costs at least 1,000 over to attend a ball, & need to dress up, further more, Andy will be the guest.

Sandra said Andy seems to be v interested in acting comedy & has scripted the lines for the show.

Andy's concert in Shanghai is scheduled on 10 November. The concert will be a duplica of HK's concert. Andy has indicated clearly that he will shift all his 40 mil dollar stage props to the stadium in Shanghai.

In HK, Andy has a 5-prong stage, with water cascade & a flying stage to get close to the audience. All these will be seen again in Shanghai.

Also, the 3-meter tall dinosaur (?), his costume sewed with 40,000 pieces of plastic material weighing 15 kg, worth HK $580,000 red Indian emperor gown will be seen. HIs high waist pants dancing Latin dance will not to be omitted too.

America has begun strikes on terrorism in Afghanistan. As such, situation in America has become unstable. Andy's initial plan of holding concerts in Atlantic City & NY is now postponed. Similarly, Ruby Lin's 2 concerts are cancelled. As this involves lives of many, fans of Andy & Ruby should not mind.

Andy is holding his concert in Wuhan soon. The organiser has looked into every details of concert preparation. Forseeing that Andy will perspire a lot, they prepare 10 cartoons of 240 bottles of 'Perri' pure water for him.

Accordingly Andy only likes this water, a French product . This brand is not available in Wuhan & has to be shipped by air from Guangzhou. Each bottle costs 16 yen, can be said not too expensive. From calculation Andy will drink up close to 3,800 yen.

As Andy is a Buddhist, the organiser has arranged vegetarian diet for him, & use 2,000 yen to make arrangements for him to say his prayer everyday.

F4, a boy group, made popular in TW by a TV series, is holding its first concert soon The handsome four-some young men are presently practising hard at it. Chow Yi Min nick-named ‘Zaizai’ wants to ‘impersonate’ Andy. He will sing Andy’s songs. He said Andy is his idol since school days. He said a girl who was in love with him secretly gave him an album of Andy knowing that he likes Andy a lot. He carries Andy’s album with him all this while to learn Andy's singing. Andy is aware of Chow’s admiration for him.

Andy Hui will act in Teamwork production Journey To The West soon, as a horse. He feels that since Andy is the boss & he should have a cameo role, as an Emperor.

Latin dance originates from folk dances in South America. The dance steps are hot & provocative. Aug this year, Andy danced Latin dance with the dance queen from China.

Actually, many famous persons have begun learning the dance. Cally Kwan, Sandra Ng, Mrs Heung have become students of Shirley. Mrs Tung too likes the dance.

First China Overseas Chinese Tourist Festival was held in Jiangmen. Macau chief exercutive officer Mr Ho Houwah, governer of Washington State in America ,Lok Jiahui, & local HK renowned persons Chow Hong Ping, Stanley Ho,had sent congratulatory messages. Jiangmen city held a honorary award ceremony, America Lok Jiahui & Hongkong Andy Lau & 130 others overseas Chinese compatriots & foreign friends were conferred with the title Honorary citizen by the government.

14th Tokyo International Film Festival announced names of the participating movies & guests yesterday. The event will be hled on the 27th Oct for 9 days. LOAD is one of the movies selected as the 'recommended' movies.

Below are some pics taken & edited, unprofessionaly, by me on the 17th in Melbourne.

Louis Ko was alleged to have assaulted a businessman. Mrs Heung when asked said she was not sure what had happened. She said Louis is a good guy, he is famous now, & might be implicated even if he is not involved. She feels that he is like Andy, work attitude is good & is filial.

'Shoulin Soccer' soccer team, led by Stephen Chow was invited to Wulihe Stadium in Shengyang to cheer for Chinese soccer team in World Cup qualifying match, the other persons invited were Andy Lau & Emil Chow.

HK soccer fans who have always watched European matches tuned in to the match between Oman & China. Pubs which shown the match live claimed a 3 fold increase in business. Some booked red wine in preparation for the celebration.

[China won & qualifies for its first World Cup after 44 years of knocking. Many TV stations in Beijing played Andy’s MTV Kick Up A Future in celebration.]

2 nights ago Andy went to Wan Zai 'Art College' to watch a stage drama Tang San Zhan. He was v punctual, arriving at 7:30 pm at the start of the show. He was in a casual denim jacket & a black backpack.

Asked why he came to the show. He said, "I have interest in Buddhism always, so I come to support.” He added he too has interest with stage shows. This show is abt the endurance of the Buddhist monk who went afar to India to collect Buddhist Sutra. Ask if his company will invest in such Buddhist stage shows. He replied there is no such plan at the moment. Would he film a movie with Buddhism as theme in future? He just smiled. He entered in a hurry saying the show was starting soon.

Ta Kung Pao: Andy appeared tired & not in high mood when he saw the reporters rushing to take his photos. At first he didnt want to stop, he smiled later only when he autographed on the Buddhist board. Many fans recognised him & asked for autograph.

Andy is a Buddhist. He has many Kuan Yin (Goddess of Mercy) in his home. He was attracted to the stage show as he feels Tang San Zhang is one with intelligence, wit & perseverance. His spirit & attitude is worth learning from.

Andy was spotted watching a stage drama 'Tang San Zhang' (The monk in Journey to The West) last night.

Despite being low key in a casual attire, his appearence caused an immediate stir, the audience sought signature from him & the reporters were busy clicking away!...

ATB actress Owyang Haisuan had photo shot for an adult mag cover lately. She had only silver strips to cover the vital spots on the upper chest. She said that was her limit of exposure, she does not want people to think she is going to be a category 3 star. She has not started work yet, but has gone for editions. She said a movie has called her for edition, she will act as a student of Andy Lau to learn dancing. If she could work with Andy, even with a smaller fee, it is worth while. The movie mentioned is Love U Like Dream.

'Journey To The West', a TV serial costing HK80 mil to produce, had a press con yesterday. This serial has v strong cast involving lead Dicky Cheung, Liang Ha Wen, Kristy Yeung, Li Sansan, Sammi, Andy Hui, Ruby Lin, Nic Tse, Sam Li, & mnay more. Its copyright sale to overseas & to TVB is a record fee.

Dicky is v happy to take the lead again. He thanked boss Andy Lau & producer Landow Li & Li Sesiong. Though the storyline is common, they are willing to pay for a big cast & do not cut the production cost.

45 enteries were received by 38th Golden Horse Awards. Stephen Chow entered Best Director & Best Actor categories with SS, his opponent in Best Actor category includes Andy Lau in the movie LOAD.

I met a super fan of Andy from Japan when I was in HK for Andy's concert. Both of us were seated on the first row one night. She had taken a lot of nice pictures. Here I share some of her masterpiece with you. I hope u like them as much as I do!

Yesterday was the last day for the submission of entries to contest in the 38th Annual Golden Horse Awards. 45 movies, 4 documentaries, 12 short movies & 2 animated movies were received.

In the Best Director category, Johnnie To entered with the movie LOAD. Andy entered Best Actor category with movie FTK.

Sucessful nominated candidates will be announced on 18 Nov. The awards ceremony will be on 8 Dec.

Andy is staging concerts in Mainland China soon. A local newspapers reported that a female fan eager to meet her idol once, willingly worked for a whole month. She used the money she got plus her own saving, a sum of HK$3,400, to buy a concert ticket. While paying for her ticket, she kept asking if she could have a photo taken with Andy, really loving Andy a lot.

'Remember to congratulate him' by Li Bihua

That day, I called Andy as I had something to ask him, the girls in the office (not only one) said, "Remember to congratulate him."

"What?"

"Today is his birthday." --- 27 Sept is actually his bday. If I ask these girls when their father & mother bdays are, they sure will not know so well.

But Andy is spending his bday with his papa & mama (of course other family member). Chose a day might as well forced the day, whenever there is food & fun, just wish one a happy bday. And encourage him to be a director.

He said he is 40 today---? Never 'felt' Andy already enters 'unfazed' age. Years never seem to leave a mark on his face. Maybe because his clothing is always simple & clean, there is no branded items or gaudy colors on the body, he 'keep fit' so he is so 'suit-able'.

Some friends from younger days, met again much much later. 'He shows no change'. His working attitude is still the same---serious, diligent (this is well recognised). He is learned & has good calligraphy, is famous in HK & Kowloon as good as Chen Zaocai. He is ever willing to help. No matter what standard of books, when requested, he would 'comment' a bit. But his movies, I still prefer Mongkok Ka Man & ROOT.

There is a song by the young friends, 'Boys in Girls' School', the lyrics goes, 'a new student from outside, A, his action is very Andy Lau....'--- 20 year old undefeatable youth still has the shadow? If let the female student choose: Edison Chan Vs Andy Lau, whom do u want?

Andy's movie co Teamwork had planned to film PC0927 originally. It is now postponed to a later date after 911 disaster, as the movie has a rather sad theme. A comedy 'Loving U Like A Dream' (literal translation), was scheduled instead. Filming will start from 10 Oct, after Andy's long holidays. The movie is slated for release in X'mas holidays. PC0927 costarring Shu Qi, will be filmed in December.

Sandra Ng is the happy female lead in this comedy movie, & Andy is a dance teacher. Love blossoms when she is learning dancing from him.

Sandra is attending dance lessons diligently from Shirley. She has 10 over lessons now. She said it is v hard to learn the dance. The fee is v expensive, 45 min costs a few thousands dollars, luckily she is not the one who pays.

She has to remember the steps, take note of her facial expression. She develops aches & pains after the lessons everyday. The only consolation is the teacher praised she has talent in dancing. Asked if her bf can be her partner, she replied that he has no talent!

Sandra had thought of stopping filming comedy movie actually, but it is hard to resist Andy's invitation, & she has never been a female lead in Andy's movie before, she feels it is a fresh feel this time, & decided to accept the role.

Is there any intimate scene? Sandra would not reveal, but said there is body contact in dancing & love develops from there.
