DIARY 28/10

Came back to HK today after the last of concert at Zhong San . Have many assignments to do after coming back, first on the list is to film a new series of promo footage for Courtesy Campaign. I believe everyone can still remember the firsrt sentence for the first promo , “At this time on this day your service attitude is still not enough !” Hope the new series of promo footage can similarly ingrained deeply in public, so that everyone is aware of the importance of courtesy.

A day before the funeral of Roamn Tam, TVB held a specila prg ‘Roman---Good Songs For U’ to pay tributes. Singers such as Eason Chan, Jordan Chan, Andy Hui, William So, Li Hui Mian & Grasshoppers etc were invited to sing this great singer’s classics, other than sharing good memories , Roman's attitude towards life is something to leran from.

In Andy’s pre-recorded video clips, he said Roamn was one who was brave, dared to challenge, dared to set new ideas, one with full confidence. Andy said takes it as Roamn had now migrated to another place.

As Roman was one who likes flowers, many couples & good friends joined hands to send flowers. Andy , Alan , Eric , Nat Chan had all snet in their condolences.

Tonight is the last of the Concert Tour. Though there was some delay at the starting , fans were v warm. When it was a fast song, they would stand up to clap to the tune, when it was slow they would sit down quietly to enjoy. Many HK fans also came to support, many thanks to them for the support these few yrs. After Concert Tour, I will continue with filming & recording of songs.

This early morning set off by car to Zhong San, for the last of Concert Tour in Mainland. The feeling was a bit anxious & reluctant to part. Never thought Zhong San would be the last station . Hope next concert tour can come again soon .

Together with Tony , was interviewed by a magazine today for the promo of Infernal affairs. First time on the front cover of a magazine together with Tony. The effect is not bad, everyone remember o buy a copy to see !

The 3 movies lining up for Xmas are Infernal Affairs, Hero, & Story of Golden Chicks ( Jin Chi Zhen Chuan ).

Hero is directed by Chang Yi Mo, producer is the same as Crouching Tiger & Hidden Dragon, Jiang Zi Wei, who again invited foreign investment in a Mandarin movie.

The writer hasn’t watched Hero, but he believes wuxia movie made by Chang will surpass that made by Li An in Asia. Li successfully introduced wuxia to the Westerners & the American, but it is not the type of wuxia world that Asians are used to, the result in Asia is not as good as in Europe & America. Hero is not a HK movie, though acted by HK stars, the workers come mainly from Mainland.

The other 2 movies are 100 % HK made.

I A acted by few Best actors is not a mainstream comedy, the movie again center on good verses underworld. The movie seems to fall in between an arthouse movie & a medodrama .

On cast, Hero is the strongest, its market is not limited to only HK.

I A deviats from mainstream & goes along the line of a manly, gloomy cast, luckily there is Andy Lau & Tony Leung to stand forte, also there is support of first line actors, box office is thus a guarantee. Will there be high returns, it all depends on the quality of the movie.

Golden Chicks is more suited to loval taste, is the only female movie. Sandra acts in the life of a prossitude, is a comedy, it will attract female viewers.

Harry Potter is again slated for release this Xmas, as in last yr. Xmas slot is always not as good as Chinese New Year. Local movie companiew would rather put investment on the later. Less & less HK movies are released nowadays during Xmas & Good Friday .

This afternoon went back to office for meetings, took up the whole afternoon . Night time recorded songs for the new commercial. Spent the whole day working, quite tired on reaching home. Want to rest early tonite, to build up enough energy for work tomorrow.

TITLE: ANDY SOFT-HEARTED BUT NOT IMPATIENT

The relationship between Andy & CCT turned sour, for half over year Andy with the conviction that he has done no wrong, is unable to accept the series of ‘mo xi you’ or baseless accusations put upon him by CCT, & further more he was owed 10 over million of artiste fee, decided to solve it with legal means. He is prepared even to go to bankrupcy for justice to be done.

Court hearing is scheduled to be on the 30 th. According to sources, 2 months ago, CCT had through all types of friends, all ways & means tried to contact Andy, actively asking for a settlement . Andy who is soft-hearted finally nodded his head with 10 conditions. If there is no problem with CCT, before 30th , the case wil be settle out of court & it will finally come to an end.

It was revealed that Andy will win beautifully. CCT has agreed to let Andy buy back all the 50 % shares in Teamwork owned by Mak with a price as low as HK$50,000,000 . Since launch, Teamwork had been making money, Andy can take back his Teamwork without taking out a cent. Till today, Teamwork has 10 good selling movies by Andy , plus andylau.com, AWC etc assets will now all be returned to Andy.

For days, it was rumored that Andy has used different prices to settle the case with CCT. But Andy did not give any response, because before it is heard in court, Andy is still wary some people may regret & change the mind. Also now it is not Andy who is the party asking for a settlement, it is CCT. So Andy is in no hurry. He will wait till 30th court hearing. It is not one word ‘settled’ to end problems, there will be a lot of legal documents to settle. Though Andy has won with justice , it will be some time for him to be busy with the recovery of Teamwork.

Andy has told others that he has no business talent & has lost interest in business. Though he will take back all the shares of Teamwork, he is in no hurry to stretch his wings again. Temporarily he will just be a singer & an artiste of heavenly status.

The whole afternoon stayed in the office for meetings, to prepare for the concert in December. Many people raised different ideas at the meeting, including some v innovative ones, hope can give everyone a happy surprise, is everyone looking forward to this concert ?

Went to Shenzhen by car this early morning, from there went to Yiwu by an internal flight, for performance in a local activity. The weather was cooler there, but fans were v warm. A few thousands were there even at the rehearsal. The performance at night was v successful. After the show, it was v rushed, I had to take a flight to Shenzhen in order to cross customs before 12 mn.

15 yrs ago Ah Ben , Xin Zhe Lun , was a small promotor handling all sorts of work including cleaning. Now he is a successful artiste’s manager & chairman of a company. He has 3 famous actors including Peter Ho under his wing. In his 15 yrs, he had handled big names like Andy Lau & Anita Mui. He has built his reputation as a trustworthy manager. The artistes that he respects the msot is Andy Lau. He said, “I always tell my artistes that they must learn from Andy, his behaviour towards others & situations, he takes fans' matter like his own, he thinks for his workers all the time.”

The court case between Andy & CCT has new progress. The latest news had it that Andy is willing to part with HK$50,000,000 to buy back freedom. Both parties are willing to come to a settlement. Other than 3rd parties to mediate, if they were to go to court, each has to pay a minimun of $20,000,000 lawyer fee, this is believed to be the important factor.

But another source of news has it that actually it is CCT who is the only willing party, it is CCT who has called a middle man . Andy's side has not made any response. As to which version is correct, will have to wait till court hearing on the 30th .

After bidding farewell with fans, came back to HK from Guangzhou by car. In the 2hr journey, unknowingly fell asleep. When I woke up it was already in HK. After that had non stop meetings.

TITLE: FORGED TICKETS AT ANDY’S GUANGZHOU CONCERT /SING PAO

Andy had a concert @ Tianhe Stadium 2 nights ago in Guangzhou. The content of the concert was exactly the same as his concert in Coliseum last yr. He bared his chest, & had Latin dance with Shirley. Fans scramed & cheered in full support .

Before the concert, some undesirable elements touted fans with duped tickets, prized $80 to $120. When exposed by the reporters, they slashed the price to half. The organiser indicated they had taken precautions to prevent those with fake tickets from entering .

But maybe because of increase in security, many audience had tiffs with the guards . One Mianland reporter cliamed that he was injured by a worker wearing uniformed tee. After being treated at the military hosp, he was found to have left rib bone traumatised.

TITLE: AUDIENCE SEATS REINFORCED WITH STEEL RODS . FULL PRECAUTION TAKEN TO PREVENT COLLAPSE AT ANDY’S CONCERT

2 nights ago Andy held an outdoor concert @ Guangzhou. The audience searts were made of steel rods & metal planks. It was sturdy, to prevent the similar collapse of the seats as in Jacky Cheung’s concert in Wuhan .

Few tens of thousnads attended . To prevent accidents, Andy reminded audience to pay attention to safety all the time.

When Andy was elevated by a lift to mid-air, he joked, “ I felt like becoming an immortal !” The audience stopped him from saying thus. When he sang at the elevation, at one time he held on to only one wire, at other he daggled his legs , fling here & there, he leaned his body sideways. The antics made audience screamed at the peak. He called hismself as Idol & said he cannot look ugly.

Towards the end of the show, many fans surged forward to the front, it was v disorderly. The police & security guards used forced to push them, some even used batons.

Despite the rain, audience refused to leave, some male fans took off shirts to watch the show, Andy continued to performed diligently.

The courtcase between CCT & Andy will be heard on the 30th. It was rumored that Andy used $80,000,000 to settle the case.

Today wnet to Guangzhou for work. At the customs received news of Roamn Tam passed away, felt v sad. Roman was a senior I respect a great deal, his unyielding spirit is worththy of our respect & to learn from, his intense passion for life is a positive msg for all of us.

TITLE AGREEMENT SIGNED IN SECRET AT LAWYERS’ OFFICE , ANDY & MAK PEACEFUL SETTLEMENT ALL EFFORT OF PETER LAM

The Sun was the first to report lawsuit between Andy & Clement is coming to an end. With the help of friends from both sides, the 2 have agreed to hold hands . Accodringly both has signed a document 2 days ago, the peacemaker is non other than Peter Lam this time.

They had gone to the lawyer’s office 2 days ago to sign an agreement. A courtcase that lingers for half a yr is finally coming to a most ideal ending. Andy will start work from now, he is holding a concert in Guangzhou on the 20th. As time is needed to prepare lawyer’s documents, it will only be announced at the end of the month.

Sources disclosed that the dispute was resolved by friends from both sides, the main figure being millionaire Peter Lam.

Lam had a meeting with Mak last week at a secret place, the two had a happy & long open-heart discussion. Mak too understands if the matter were to drag on, it is harmful to both parties. The courtcase between Andy & Clement shows no progress after so long a time. An unexpected news surfaced lately that both parties who do not wish to be bothered by the case anymore are thinking of settling it out of court. It was even said a press con would be held yesterday.

Andy had just finished his bday holidays, on hearing the call, he said, “ V coincidental, I just finished my hol from Germany.” He was busy taking pictures, he stopped for 2 mins to ans questions. When asked on his tour to Germany, he said he went to promote FTK, he was worried by the flood at first, but it was not bad.

Andy & CCT co-invested in Teamwork, each holds 50% stake. In June, CCT asked Andy for a compensation of HK$150,000,000 , now it is said to settle with HK$80,000,000.

Today had meetings with the lawyers to discuss matters on the courtcase. Days from now will have meetings continuously. After meetings, went to AWC for a while, coming back to this home, feel v secure.

Andy & CCT are embroiled in a lawsuit for quite a while, Clement Mak even filed lawsuits 3 X to sue Andy .

But, the matter now shows signs of softening. It is rumored that both of them have come to an agreement, a press con will be held today, to resolve all differences !

The court case between Andy & CCT begins in April this yr, Mak sued Andy for violating directorial contract , sent out mails to many companies, stopping Andy from accepting all forms of work as an artiste . Later he filed suits 3 X to apply for injunction on Andy to film Infernal Affairs. After a few hearings, there was no verdict.But now the matter takes a sudden turn for settlement .

Accordingly, both of them were bothered v much by the case these few mths. To prevent the matter from continuing affecting their work , with help of friends from both sides, both of them are willing to take a step back. After some careful discussions, their misunderstanding seems to be cleared, most of the matter can be solved out of court.

On the rumor movie Infernal Affairs by Peter Lam not being able to screen during Xmas, it is now confirmed that the movie is set for release during Xmas. Andy will help to promote the movie full force.

Though it has been 6 mths, luckily it can now be settled, the lawsuits from both sides will be withdrawn this afternoon in an announcement. Clement who is overseas will be back to HK to look into the settlement & shake hand with Andy. Andy will get back to work completely. He is holding 2 concerts on 20 & 27 in Guangzhou & Chong San respectively.

What a relief now that both agree to end the case !

Had an appt with the Taiwanese music company, to discuss on the plans for next yr, & matters concerning the next album. In addition, I am involved actively with the preparation of the comcert in Dec. I believe everyine is v anxious to see my performance !

TITLE: NO RACING CAR IN ANDY'S CONCERT

Andy is holding a concert in Guangzhou this weekend. He was interviewed by the press yesterday ( 14/10) , he talked on his concert, his career & his emotion.

His lawsuit with CCT is the talk of the town recently. He said he has handed the matter over to his lawyers, & said the thing that has affected him the most is he wouldn't want to be a boss again, but his work in the entertainment circle will not be affected. He said, "I have never thought of when to quit the circle, never thought of when to stop getting music awards." He disclosed that his unfulfilled wish is to produce an album that everyone likes.

On the criticism that his music has not changed much, he replied, " Let nature takes its course." He believes if the song is good it is enough, as to go into different lines of music, one has to look at one's ability.

On movie, he said Infernal Affairs with Tony Leung is coming to a completion. He has filmed over 100 movies, successfully acted in roles such as killers, lady etc. What is the role he likes to paly the most now ? He replied lightly, "Have not much thoughts at the moment."

It was reported that he has some hearing loss due to loud explosions during filming of movies. The reporter asked how it is now. He said, "Wont get better, got to take good care." News of Andy staging a concert in Guangzhou on the 20th has made fans v excited, tickets are selling like hot cakes. Many tickets have been pre-booked. AWC has booked exclusive VIP seats for its members.

The concert will be basically the same as his Summer Fiesta concert in HK. To thnak the fans, some new ideas will be added. Andy takes this performance seriously, he is meticulous with its preparation.. He had sought opinions of fans in songs selection . The ticket is sold with an aim of giving the least possible price & maximum enjoyment. With instructions from the secirity dept, original seats of 9,000 is reduced to 7,000. From the 60 seats in each row, it is now reduced to 30, so as to give audience better view & comfort. Concert will open sharp on time, in contrast to the usual pratice of delaying.

TITLE: KENNY G NOT CONTENDING WITH ANDY

On the 18th & 20th, Kenny G & Andy will hold their own musical respectively @ Tian He Stadium. Though one is Caucasian & one is Chinese, one plays saxaphone & the other one sings, both are big names in the music world. Incidentally, both of them had a collaboration before. When Kenny G realised Andy is holding concert at abt the same timea as him, he was v excited, "Really ? That's too good !" He admires Andy a lot, he said a few times, " He is a mystical genius!"

In '99, Kenny G had collaborated with Andy in the song, U Are My Lady. Reminiscing, Kenny said, "The song was composed by me, lyrics written by him. Andy is really too mystical, he is a v good person. We are abt the same age, we got along vwell. The time together with him was v nice. We still write to one another. I feel he is a genius. If he can come to my musical it will be marvellous, I welcome him a lot."

Has he ever thought of singing ? Kenny replied that his voice is not as good as Andy & he is also not as handsome.

Asked if there is rivalry since their concerts are only 2 days apart, he said, "Of course not, we are friends, we hope each other well, I hope he has a sold out concert. Of couse I also wish my tic sale is good." He added those who feel satisfied are the happiest, he feels competition is only in sports, not in music.

Screening date of Infernal affairs was rumored to be uncertain, some cinemas wary of the unsettled courtcase are not willing to give screening slots. Yu Wen Le at a public activity yesterday appeared shocked when he was asked on this. He answered, g This is serious ! I only know it will be out during Xfmas, there is no mention of it cannot be screened. ( Would u ask Juno to help in advising his father ?) What has that got to do with him ? "

Infernal Affairs (Wu Jian Dao) had a promo activity yesterday at Tsim Sha Tsui. Tony Leung, Lam Ka Tong, Yu Wwen Le, Edison Chan, Anthony Wong & boss Peter Lam were present.

Andy Lau did not appear at all . Peter Lam indicated that Andyfs absence has nothing to do with his lawsuit. Andy had something to do , he stressed that Andy can definitely help in the promo of the movie.

At this economic downturn, Tony Leung can be said to be v lucky, after filming a movie with Andy, with high fee he is to start filming a new yr movie for Golden Harvest. Wheter his price is 6 mil or not, the reporter is not sure, but his price is definitely not low. Their combined fee for Andy & Tony in Infernal Affairs was rumored to be 16 mil.

At such gloomy time, an average fee of US a mil is a huge sum.

Tony will colaborate with Mirium in the new movie.

The other movie is to be made by China Star, starring Louis Ko & Sammi & directed by Johnnie To & Han Jia Hui.

The third movie is invested by Media Asia, a period drama to be direcred by Chan Jia San , with Andy & Cecilia as leads.

Plans for the filming of the 3 movies are underway, filming to start in November.

Combination of Luis Ko & Sammi seems to be at an advantage. Andy & Cecilia is not bad either. Tony & Mirium may be a black horse. Tony is a good actor, but his box office is less to Andy, he has been filming arthouse movies these few yrrs to garner awards.

4 Wesrtern movies will hit the screen at the same time . Yet to see which movie stands out among the 7.

HK movie industry is now at a slump, most of the movie companies has put their plans on hold. Even with Chinese New Year which is the prime time for making money, only Golden Harvest & China Star are ready & will start fiming soon. The problem actually lies in scarcity of actors that are bankable both locally & overseas. After much calculation, only 2 actors ,Andy Lau & Tony Leung, fit into the category. But their fees are high, not every company can afford.

Results these few yrs have shown that movies starring Andy & Tony grossed 10 over mil easily at HK box office. The trend is steady, movie co is more confident with the two. Despite the high fee, some co are willing to invest on them.

Though Andy has the title 'Box Office King', his courtcase with CCT is still not over, temporarily he is not accepting offers, bit it is rumored that Peter Llam will get him to fim a new yr movie.

Andyfs concert in Guangzhou falls on the 20th this mth, the venue is at Tian He Stadium. The reporter gathered info that the organiser has vowed to start the concert @ 8 pm sharp this day, not a minute nor a second late. It reflects the seriousness of Andy with the concert.

The concert will showcase Andy's HK concert in Aug last yr. The props will be transported in whole to Guangzhou., with some fresh additions. Most of the songs will be his classics. Ticket sale has exceeded half.

Despite the bad economy , 3 big movie companies are preparing to produce movies for the lunar new year. Golden Harvest has decided earlier on to use Tony Leung & Mirium Yeung. Later it complained Tonyfs fee of 6 mil is high . But there is no one else to choose so the final decision is still to use Tony.

China Star handed the job over to Johnnie To. Louis Ko will paired up with Sammi. Sammi is the fave of To, they had worked together many times before & result is rewarding . Peter Lam of course would not miss this opportunity, he has plans to produce movie too. On his hand, Andy should be the male lead. If it is so, the casts from the 3 movies are equal in strength, hard to choose ! Previously it is to use all big names in one movie, now they are divicded out, guess who will be the winner this time ?

At celebration dinner for Wu Jian Dao last month, Tony Leung was spotted drunk & needed assistance. Taiwanese movie businessman Wang Yin Xiang was there too & was responsible in part for getting him drunk. Wang was present to discuss with Peter Lam, et al on the screening right in Taiwan. The movis is confirmed to hit the big screen both in HK & TW on the 14th of Dec . Andy & Tony will come to Taipei for the premiere on the 11th Dec.

It is hope this movie will rekindle interest of the Taiwanese moviegoers with HK movies.

The role of Andy & Tony in Wu Jian Dao is interesting, one is the undercover for the triad in the police force, while the other is the police undercover in the underworld, the characters are totally different. Andy in straight suits is the triad member, whereas the moustachioued Tony is the poilce. The movie coupled with the cooperation of Anthony & Eric Tsang is deemed a blockbuster. Female leads are attractive too, Sammi is the gf of Andy, Elva Hsiao & Tony look compatible, v attractive cast indeed.

Andy has been the spokesman for Baleno casual wear last few yrs. Lately his position is being shared by F4 . Baleno in Mainland is activlely promoting a series of its appareal for the youngsters called Samuel & Kevin ( S & K) . F4 was invited as the spokesman.

They had filmed some hard copies for the ad. The fee is said to be comaprable to that of Heavenly Lau, at HK$8 mil. Due to contract details yet to be settled, the ad is not out in HK .

Though all are spokesmen, thre is no conflict. Andy' com released 2 weeks ago advertises winter & fall apparel, with 'simple & natural' as theme. Andy wears warm clothings of different styles. F4's S & K com , out last week, showcases style & beauty, with theme 'Releasing New Style' . The line of clothing is light & easy, only tee-shirts & jeans.

Dicky Cheung has many bosum friends in the circle. If u were to ask William So, Andy Hui, Liang Han Wen, Andy Lau, etc who their good friends are, they will never forget to mention Dicky. He is the best friends of many. When Wilian So was involved in drug abuse case in Taiwan, he left his work behind just to bring Sofs mother from HK to TW to see So.

In Dicky's eyes, Andy Lau is a best person one cannot choose anymore, they both have some super friends. But Andy is caught in a lawsuit with his partner . Juno Mak claimed he has grown taller by 3" recently due to his growth spurt . Actually his growth in height is not natural, it is because with a hefty sum he looted Andyfs personal fitness trainer to become his. Actually height can be heaped up with money.

Accordingly, Juno paid a monthly fee of $40,000 + to the trainer called Ah Dick. He tends to Juno the whole day, not only accompanying him to press con, to the gym, he takes care of his 3 meaks, draft out menu so that the skinny Juno can get the most nutrition.. The aim is to make him grows sideways & in height. Few months ago he ordered an extraordinary equipment to help him grow. Within 3 mths, Juno grows taller to 170cm. His manager when contacted, said, "I don't know!" when asked if Juno used money to buy Ah Dick over.

Though troubled by lawsuits recently, Anyd did not slaken his work. After filming new series of Baleno commercial, he had photos taken for a pictorial piano musical score book, keeping himself busy.

Andy had released many pictorial book before, but this is the first time he releases a piano score. The book will hit the selves this week, in it are collections of his classic songs, such as Water of Forgetfulness, Stupid Child, Zen Wo De Feng Cai, I Don't Love U Enough, When I Meet You, etc, in addition to his amny pictures. Fans can follow the score to play the piano. It is yet another feeling.

TITLE: ANDYfS AD ON DUMPING OF WARDROBE ONTO THE STREET CENSORED

Andy had filmed a new series of commercial for Baleno recently.The ad costing ten millions to produce & to do promo, is due for release early Oct in HK, TW & Mainland. The com comes in 3 parts, namely :Switching on the light, Searching & Eating Food.

But the part on Searching has failed to pass through the censor board of HK. HK viewers are not able to see it. The ad is still waiting to go through censor board in TW & Mainland. In this section of com, Andy in order to search for a bunch of keys, pushed a big wardrobe to the roof top & topple it down to the street, forcing it to crush open. Filming took 2 days, Andy was breathless pushing the wardrobe, no one expected it to be snipped.

The reason for the ban is because Andy s a super idol of youngsters, he has great influence on them. The censor board is wary that viewers may imitate the action & drop wardrobe down the atreet

When the com agent knew abt this , they were disappointed & wish to seek other means for it to be out, one of the ways is to include it in Andy's new album.

Andy who is holidaying overseas, at trunk call , felt it is a pity that it was banned. He agreeds censor board has its reasons. As to viewers may imitate, he said it wont be easy, the wardrobe is too heavy, at least 4 to 5 big guys are needed to push it to the roof top. The consor board may be worried abt littering, actually the ad is just to convey the msg of searching something, it stresses on natural concept. It is just an ad, dumping rubish must be done at dumping areas, so everyone please donft imitate.

Andyfs bday was on the 27th, fans left him close to ten thousand congratulatory msg at his official website on that day, resulting in a traffic jam.
